What User doesn't like about Sugarpine Drive-in:
The great creativity and presentation was done wonderfully. However, this tipping before we get our food and service is out of hand. I’m not a fan of being forced to tip 20% at the time of order. This should be an option . It put a bad taste in my mouth before I actually enjoyed my treat. And I expected the ice cream to be so amazing I’d want to come back. It’s just average over priced because of the 20% over charge. View all feedback.
Stop here after hiking Cape Horn Trail. Simple online order and can pick it up on the window or by entering. I have a phenomenal winter squash sandwich, but the real stars were the sunflowers. The whole ice cream is soft-served, but with a ton of blows like honeycomb candy, peanut butter magic bowls and blondes. Absolutely not disappointed. Not sure why it took us so long to stop here, but will be back in the new year. Many vegan substitutions.
Absolutely delicious! Take advantage of the drive from Portland only to eat or a great place to stop on the way to the east. Amazing ice cream, salads and sandwiches with fresh ingredients. Very recommended!
We drove through the Drive-Thru. We bought Softserve deserts. Unfortunately they do not serve waffles due to COVID19. But the cheerful waiter was very nice. Our dog also has a beautiful large dog biscuit. If COVID19 allows them to serve waffle cone, they get 5 stars.
Absolutely one of my favorite food places in the area. Everything they serve is incredible, and their vegan/dairy-free ice cream is just delicious, and a perfect after hike treat. Their food is worth the wait, but on the busy summer days it's better to park and walk up for your online order if you could find a parking spot. They have been doing a great job handling the pandemic and still providing delicious food. Anyone complaining about the 20% gratuity doesn't understand or care about the plight of the small restaurant business, and I sure don't mind helping such a unique and wonderful spot outlast this extremely difficult time.
Who knew a drive-in could have such good food?! Stopped here on a rainy day after a hike in the Gorge. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to you or there is a drive through window where you can order ice cream and other goodies. I had the Sugarpine Salad and it was probably the best salad I've ever had. So many colorful raw and roasted veggies and edible flowers and it was very filling. We also tried the Taste the Rainbow Sandwich and it was crunchy and full of flavor. For dessert, had the ice cream special-strawberry melon dairy free coconut milk ice cream. Normally I'm not a big fan of soft serve, but this was smooth and incredible. Food came out quickly and there were tables under the canopy so eating with the rain wasn't an issue. Great service too!
