"We had afternoon tea and everything was delicious, lovely sandwiches, warm scones and tasty cakes. The cakes were proper sliced cakes and not the silly little taster cakes you can sometimes get. A lovely warm welcome from all the staff and we were given a box to take home what we couldn't eat. The best high tea we have ever had. We will definitely be going back again."

"Colin and Anne Marie on our way from Bexley to Bexhill we turned off the A21 to escape the torrential rain and standing water making our journey treacherous. Imagine our relief when we saw The Chequers Pub and Kitchen in Lamberhurst offering lunch and a warm and cosy shelter from the storm. We parked the car in the well appointed car park accessed by the side of the pub and rushed in. We were warmly welcomed by Helen and settled in the fresh and comfortable dining area. The artwork on the walls were fun and intriguing making for conversation over Lunch. We ordered drinks and ordered from the lunch menu. I had sausage and mash and Colin had flat ironed steak. The food was beautifully cooked and presented, the staff are welcoming and friendly and prices are competitive. I know we will be hurrying back as soon as we can. The gardens and riverside views are captivating even in a rain storm."
