"Four of us ate two nights in a row at Fishtail in Twizel. All of us have been to northern India several times, and two had lived in Nepal for 2+ years as Peace Corps Volunteers. We love Nepali and Indian food, and can be particular as to the quality and genuineness. Fishtail Restaurant in Twizel exceeded our hopes high. H and H, the manager, Hemant, and the rest of the staff were welcoming, friendly, and competent. Highly recommended for great and genuine Nepali/North Indian food."

"Tried their Tom Yum soup and the green curry, both served with a small portion of steam rice. Loved both the items, you could tell it was made using authentic ingredients. The portion sizes maybe questionable for the soup at $25.00. Given the price fluctuations now a days it is kind of expected that the prices would be inflated along the tourist route, however after doing an entire circuit from Christchurch to Queenstown and Te Anau, Milford sound and invercargill, dunedin etc it is safe to say that this was the most expensive Tom Yum soup in a non 5 star hotel I have ever tried. The service was good though, they check if you want the spice levels altered between mild, medium, hot and Thai hot! As someone who can handle Indian spice, we ordered Medium spice but could have easily gone for hot. Wouldn't say it was good value for money but the taste and the service along with limited options for dining in this area makes it worthwhile. Give them a go!"

"Very nice coffee ice coffee as was the food set amongst Formica 50s style furnishings with rural, rustic fittings. Quiet atmosphere with obliging, friendly staff made this a café worth future visits and a mention to family and friends."
