"We hadn't been to Hayward's for years, actually forgot about it. So decided to pay a visit. Had the lunchtime surprise 4 course meal. The food was beyond expectations, each course was sublime don't want spoil the surprise by revealing the actual courses), balanced, well presented and delicious and good value for money. The service was attentive. The wine, had a bottle of Torrontés which was excellent. This restaurant is miles better than some of the well known expensive names in London. Will definitely revisit."

"Passed through on my walk of the Essex Way in the May day bank holiday weekend. The previous 2 pubs I had tried were closed and I was hankering for an evening meal and a rest so I came to the Windmill not realising how fancy it was! Despite that and my less than ideal attire, the waitress was as an an angel to a weary traveller and found me a seat. After a bread basket with a deliciously salty spread, a cauliflower risotto and of course a chilly pint, a man on the edge walked another few miles or so into the night and slept happily in the woods with a smile on his face. I will have to return one day the classiness of the place mixed with its quaint but very highly refined pub vibe is exquisitely peaceful and the food is like dining on dreams. Only giving it 5 stars because 1000 isn't an option."

"Stunning food, a real surprise when I first found it. Lovely authentic service, delivered with passion and a deep knowledge of the origins of the dishes. Great selection of both soft and alcoholic drinks, again authentic from Italy, traditional sodas etc. Ingatestone is very lucky to have a restaurant of this calibre on the high street; it's such a joy to visit every time. It's worth calling ahead, and you certainly have to book in the evenings. Given their popularity you may be disappointed if you don't call ahead to secure a table. Highly recommended; this is what great Italian food is all about Dietary restrictions: It's a relatively small kitchen preparing a wide variety of dishes from scratch. As such, you can't reasonably expect them to accommodate all intolerances and allergies. "If you want good food,quick service then this place definitely is worth the visit. The staff welcome you with smiles and kindness always. The menu is vast and every dish is freshly prepared to your requirements. The venue is spacious and always spotlessly clean. From breakfast right through to main meals each dish is presented to high standard. Cannot fault anything about coming here which is generally is now 2-3 times a week."

"We were quickly shown to an available table. Then completely ignored. Staff were walking past all the time and even though we tried to get their attention they ignored us. After 20 minutes we saw someone coming towards us only to go to the table next to us, who came in after us to take their order. We then decided to leave. Such disappointing customer service"
