Thea is a BYOB so be sure to bring a bottle or two! We did a variety of the appetizers and salads instead of doing entrées. We started with the Brie and berry salad and the flatbread du jour, which was a vegetable flatbread. Both were excellent! We then got the beet and arugula salad, the truffle Parmesan frites, and the assorted crustini. These were excellent as well, definitely get the Parmesan truffle frit... View all feedback.
What Wilber Kilback doesn't like about TGI FRIDAYS - Valparaiso:
I called for reservations and they said the only way to get reservations was through OpenTable. So I made reservations when we arrived, Hostess said it would be a 20 minutes waiting when she was sitting just a collecting table. The couple that went about 5 minutes after us sat before us and they had no reservation. She asked if we were willing to sit with another couple we talked about being a lifeguard for her??? So... We were extremely disappointed when we arrived at the restaurant and were told that they no longer accept Open Table reservations, despite it being listed on the website. We were pressed for time, but luckily they had a table available by a cold window. However, our server was excellent and made our dining experience more enjoyable.
I tried to make a reservation over the phone, but was told that the only way to secure one was through OpenTable. I made a reservation, but when we arrived, the hostess informed us that there would be a 20-minute wait as she was the only one seating guests and busing tables. Another couple who arrived after us was seated before us, even though they did not have a reservation. The hostess asked if we would be willing to share a table with another couple, which was not what we had in mind for our date night. The service was lacking and the food was not up to par. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this restaurant and wish there was an option to leave a negative review.
At 6:30 on a Sunday night, there were fewer than 10 diners in the restaurant. The waitress refused to provide my mother, who is 4'11 and in a wheelchair with Parkinson's, with a smaller glass to drink from. She mentioned that the short glasses were only for use in the bar for alcohol, but offered my mom a paper to-go cup instead. Surprisingly, there was no one even in the bar, yet the supposedly nice restaurant was refusing appropriate glassware to diners. Fortunately, the manager made an exception and provided us with a glass. However, my mom's salmon was completely overcooked. When the waitress returned it to the kitchen, we could hear the chef yelling about the issue and berating my mom for wanting softer fish, which made his outburst audible throughout the entire restaurant. The service was terrible, despite the fact that we were among the only customers in the establishment. My Caesar salad was decent, but based on our overall experience, we do not plan on returning.
Service was the best, fast, it helped having reservations as they were pretty busy
This was our first time at Thea but it won't be our last! Everything from the food to the service was first class. The decor is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. Love that it is a BYOB. The arugula beet salad was amazing and our entrees were equally impressive.
