This is a small hotel just a block away from the center of Varenna, run by a real Italian family, primarily Lidia. She is so hard working, has little English, but manages to make you feel so welcome, and there is nothing she will not do for you. Arriving by train, the hotel is an easy walk. The hotel website even has a video showing you how to walk to the hotel. The hotel is a block off the water, so convenient but off the busy waterfront. Breakfast is included and is OK. The downsides are there is no all night staff on site. After the guests checking in that day, the staff leaves. The staff speaks little or no English.
