"I used to love to eat here, ingredients were always fresh, the food was delicious, the portions fair and the prices correct for quality and quantity, I find it is now overpriced, quality and taste are no longer present, and portions have been halved, even...worst if you order take out. The last few times it has been quite disappointing. Used to love going to eat here or pick up on the way home, now not so much."

"I was surprised that the burger was on a crusty bun. You know when you leave bread out and it gets that hard stale feel and texture? I have worked in restaurants and it just a lazy way to work. Cook leaves bread out instead of closing bag with buns inside. Really ruined our experience. Burgers and beers were fine but no excuse for left out bread. Waitress said nothing she could do as we ate the beef but left burger. I won't return."

"An absolutely gem of a restaurant. The food was amazing and service exceptional. I had the table d'hote which consisted of the house salad, halibut main and dessert. The halibut was perfectly cooked. For dessert I had the lemon poppy seed almond flour cake with Blueberry coulis. Omg this was just so decadent and not overly sweet. My husband had the sweet potato soup and the salmon. He also enjoyed his meal very much. Our server was very pleasant and friendly. My husband loves history so got into talking about the history of the building the restaurant is housed in and our server, being ever so friendly, took the time to chat with us about the house. We had a wonderful evening at would definitely visit the restaurant again. Thank you for a great experience Bistro 1843."

"The place is beautiful. Service was really above and beyond any expectations. Food is to die for. One of the most enjoyable and memorable meals. So happy we have this amazing place on West Island. Will definitely be back."
