"I was at this restaurant several times over the last 5 years. This October 3 times! It is extremely popular in Veracruz. They open at 7:00 am. for breakfast and I still cannot get used to the idea of getting ready, driving and finding parking...to go for breakfast...but times change and this is what many people do in Mexico these days. So breakfast it was my first time this year. My cousin and I went to her request. She ordered the traditional picadas . Made of corn dough, much thicker and larger than a tortilla, cooked in a grill, the entire perimeter is pinched to create an edge, sauce is poored with grated cheese, it could be red tomato sauce, or green tomatillo sauce, mole sauce, beans sauce...and she ordered also a gorda which is the same round dough but deep fried. It separates in two layers and pops, that is why it is called gorda which literary means fat one . Their breakfast menu is impressive...I had scrambled eggs with turkey ham and beans. It was just delicious...they gave me 2 michas Crusty dinner rolls but I don 't eat white bread any more : I had one more breakfast with 2 friends from high school! They are now physicians AND the waiter greeted them by their names : good morning Dr. So and So, what do I serve you this morning? so these brats go there several times per week! So I had eggs with ranchera sauce and refried beans, it was very nice. The last time was dinner with my cousin and her husband. She had the octopus in its ink, he had chicken in mole sauce and I had an Argentinian Dish, milanesa napolitana con ensalada . It is a breaded beef filet like the German schnitzel, it was fantastic. We had a jar of sangria for all to drink. Gaucho actually means a country man from Argentina and Uruguay. It is incredibly busy any time. There is air conditioner and there are outdoor tables as well. It is very clean and the waiters are very formal, dressed in white suits with a black tie. Some people tell me it is the best restaurant in Veracruz...."
