"The food was fantastic. It was everything I wanted it to be. I would recommend the roasted pork to anyone who eats pork. The fried plantains were unexpected and full of flavor. Dont forget to finish the meal with Jesus cake. Yum"

"My wife and I used to eat here weekly until we changed our diet. While our current lifestyle doesn't allow us to eat here we miss it and talk about it often! Not the most authentic but friendly family, good quality, and generous portions. If only they offer vegan options like some other restaurants in town."

"Looks like a dive bar when you walk in, but wow!! That was some of the best bar food I’ve had in awhile.Waitress was awesome, attentive, and gave some great recommendations.Fried pimento cheese balls were ?and served with really good homemade ranch dressing.The Spicy Cahaba was juicy, cooked to order and really tasty. Waitress surprised me with onion rings that I wouldn’t have ordered myself but complimented the burger perfectly. They were also juicy and crispy all at the same time.The Jamm Gouda burger was also juicy and flavorful. Collard greens were on point and didn’t need anything additional. Didn’t taste like canned, so you had us fooled if they were.The kids enjoyed their tots and mini corn dogs.Good whiskey selection, and the beer was cold and fresh.Overall a great experience even though they looked slammed when we first went in. Was surprised with the quickness of everything given how busy they were."

"I review tons of pizza joints and Donato's can make a very good pie. I had the Founders Favorite and it was really good. Banana peppers provided the perfect amount of kick. The pepperoni was great, but the sausage was just ok. Sauce crust were good, no complaints there at all. I ordered right after an annoying lady complained, but the very friendly lady working the counter bounced right back after dealing with the obnoxious customer and was just really nice. The order was ready nice and quick, which was great after travelling all day. I also got the cinnamon bread, which was delightfully sweet. Definitely not good for my waistline, but it was yummy and I recommend it! Keep up the good work Donato's, I'll be back next time I'm in town!"

"We had an hour to kill waiting to check in to our hotel when we found this little gem. We were visiting from Missouri. I am from Louisiana so I tend to miss good southern seafood. I was really wanting some flavor while we were down south. This place did not disappoint. My husband was so impressed he wanted to come eat there again before we left. (We didn't But not because he didn't want to! We had enough food left over from our late lunch that we just finished up our left overs in our hotel room. We ordered a pitcher of mango margaritas, a dozen oysters on the half shell, he had the butterflied, stuffed shrimp and I had the blackened red fish. Our check was only $90 before the tip. The server did great considering he was the only one e there and it got a little busy. It was a Saturday afternoon. I wish I could remember the servers name but I'm drawing a blank. He was probably late 20's, early 30's with lots of tattoos. Big shout out! Great job. Thank you! If we ever come back to Birmingham, we WILL be eating here!"

"Excellent service and great food. Small quaint place. Will be back?because i left a half bottle of corked bubbles for tomorrow. I came back. Had the pastrami sandwich to go and ate it out front of the restaurant while there was a 90min wait. This pastrami could b the best Ive ever tastes. It was juicy, fatty pieces, and packed a lot of flavor. The fried egg was perfect. The pictures dont do this sandwich justice. By far the best pastrami sandwich Ive ever had."
