What Lilou Mahieu doesn't like about Shulin GAO & Zhengmei ZHAN KEG:
I come to this place sometimes but it is really not great. There is a buffet where you have a limited choice and i have to say the quality is average or maybe even poor...15,50 euro is the price now: the increased it. View all feedback.
For about 12-16€ you can eat infinite ammount sushi and maki u want, also all wok noodles and more. I ate like 6 sushis, 10+makis with sauces, and chow mein on top of it. I give Buffet 9/10.
Came here and ordered a vegetable ramen, when the food arrived I noticed that it was just a packet of instant noodles with a few vegetables. Very disappointed as this should be mentioned on the menu that it was an instant pack, and to think...I could have made a better noodles at home made me very upset. And i paid over 10 euros for this. Never coming back again.
We ate at this restaurant twice during our stay in Vienna. Eat as much as you like and serve yourself. At 15.50 Euros it is amazing value. For the "first course" there is a wide choice of foods from several oriental countries, including Suchi items and 2 soups. For the main course, you select your raw ingredients from the bain maries and take them to the cooking counter with a note of which sauce you wish to have them cooked in (a choice of 9 if I remember correctly). Once cooked, they are brought to your table. They are all stir fried so you do not get a lot of sauce. There is a wide variety of meat, fish, seafood and vegetable ingredients to choose from (including large prawns, 2 types of mussels, pieces of steak, kebab skewers etc.). A surprisingly good choice of desserts is also included. You can keep going back and have as many starters, main courses and desserts as you want. Even the drinks are fairly reasonably priced. Whilst it may not be the gastronomic experience of all time we found it very enjoyable and superb value. The location is close to the Opera, next to the entrance to the Karlsplatz underground station and facing one corner of the Karlsplatz park (which has a very grand church at the opposite end), so it is in a great central location, ideal for tourists.
Walked in near closing time after seeing an Opera, my party wanted a quick bite to eat. The Wok provided us that in the form of an average gyoza appetizer (too thick), good entrees (wide variety as a la carte plus a buffet), and subpar service (to be fair, they were cleaning up). All in all, if we do come back to Vienna and need a quick bite to eat in Karlsplatz, we won't come here again unless we really want Asian.
It wasn't amazing but the concept was novel and the choice quite vast. A good pick for families as evetyone gets to build their own meal.
