"This is a very modern looking, yet cosy restaurant in the small town of Lamas de Orelhão, near Mirandela. Food is excellent and there is a good choice of dishes. It's spacey and can easily harbour bigger families or groups. Most surprising to me was finding this restaurant in an area where one wouldn't expect to find a restaurant of this kind. Usually restaurants here are simple places where regional food is prepared and more intricate dishes are impossible to get nor would you expect that. The Rei d'Orelhão Restaurant makes you think you are dining in a larger city. Quality is high and portions are well measured. We had a dish that was supposed to be for two but could easily have served three. Very tasty and very well served."

"Favas guisadas (fava beans in sauce with pork belly and sausage) was outstanding. As were the local alheira sausage croquetas and the fresh cheese drizzled with herbs and local olive oil. Wonderful almond and chestnut panna cotta dessert. Friendly waitress was able to help in English FYI and she made a very nice pairing suggestions for my dessert. I came on a Monday of Carnival weekend, so hard to say if its usually this busy but it was full when I was here. Waited about 30 40 for a table... maybe best to make a reservation. These are big hearty meals, for a couple I'd get just one entree and 1 2 starters rather than 2 entrees... we got 2 entrees and couldn't finish. Each entree was about 15. Great selection of wines from solid local bottles for under 15 to a few world famous heavy hitters of the Douro for 50 200 or more."
