The food, ambiance, and service at this restaurant are all lovely. My companion and I enjoyed the Bookstore Breakfast. Surprisingly, the place was not busy for a Friday lunchtime. It feels like a hidden gem that not many people know about. We definitely plan on returning to try more brunch items and perhaps even have dinner there in the future. View all feedback.
What Muzalinka doesn't like about The Bookstore Cafe:
Nice little cafe/restaurant. Friendly staff. Aromatic coffee. Sadly, extremely overpriced. Two course for £25 (which might be a small salad and cake) plus 12.5% service charge. Used to be a place where I could meet my friends for a tasty something. Not any more… Sunday lunch time almost empty. Says it all really… I will not be coming back to eat, maybe only for coffee… View all feedback.
My sister has visited here a number of times in the last year and so it was the perfect place to go for her birthday brunch especially when we were catering for different tastes and preferences in the food. Firstly it's a great venue, spacious, light and airy. The tables are a great size and although communal the seats aren't crammed together so there's space to eat. The staff are lovely. The brunch menu was varied and had plenty of veggie options. The food was cooked really well and plated up beautifully with a nice salad dressing. Between us, we had scrambled eggs on toast with smoked salmon, smashed avocado on toast with feta cheese, sausage and cheese toasted sandwich with onion marmalade and ham and cheese toasted sandwich with piccalilli. The ham was thick-cut ham off the bone not thin and plastic with little flavour. The bread used was toasted sourdough and some of the best I've ever tasted. We all said that we could our meals over again... or as one of my sisters said... it was so tasty you didn't want the meal to end. They are also licenced and so you can get a glass of something to go with your food. If you live near Erith this is well worth a visit, they also do food in the evening cakes etc. And afterwards why not go for a walk on Erith Pier? I thoroughly recommend The Bookstore in Erith and I'd love one of their sandwiches now... At £6 it was a really well priced brunch and some of the dishes were cheaper.
LOVE this little gem of a café! We bring our dog here too and she loves it just as much as we do! The food is delicious and the staff are incredibly friendly, would recommend this place to anyone!!!
We have lived in the area for 4 years now and when we heard this cafe was opening its doors we were really excited! We frequently visit The Bookstore Cafe with friends and family and we absolutely love it. The prices are beyond reasonable and the quality of the food is just brilliant. They also do great a job of putting on events for the local community and there is always something cool going on whether it be a themed night for dinner, games night, workshops or pop-ups! Couldn't recommend this place enough!
I enjoyed my meal food was fresh and tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful. Interesting place to visit.
We have been visiting The Bookstore a couple of times a week, since the opening day in Feb and just can't stay away. We love it and so does everyone we've ever brought with us! Our little boy either falls asleep, as he's so relaxed when we visit or he cries when we have to leave, because he's had such a good time! The food is gorgeous, with a great selection of top quality homemade dishes, all reasonably priced. Loads of lovely drinks to choose from, including wines and local beers. The themed evening menu of a weekend is always exciting and it's a big bonus that this cafe is open late some nights. They have lots of events on in the cafe and the old library, game nights, markets and concerts, etc, so it's definitely worth being added to the mailing list or following them on Facebook. There is a large, calm, pretty and relaxed outside area and plenty of space for prams, etc, inside and they have good safe and sturdy high chairs. Immaculate and roomy changing facilities, so you can wheel the pram in, if you're visiting solo with your munchkin (that dad's can use too... So extra brownie points deserved for that). The owners staff couldn't be more welcoming and lovely. What more could you ask for? I very regularly come for a solo coffee/bite to eat and never feel uncomfortable visiting on my own. Its just such a welcoming place to be. A much needed addition to the area. x
