Very dirty and it’s only 10 am! Glad we only came for coffee. Seats uncomfortable and worn. Coffee ok. Will not be returning.

"There were just a handful of diners for our lunch time meal at the Clockspire which has a large open dining room. The cavernous space was cold and lacked atmosphere, exacerbated by so few fellow travellers. Staff were attentive without being intrusive. The kitchen offers fine dining and yet most of our dishes were over seasoned with salt very prominent. Portions were tiny and relatively expensive, as were wines. Overall the restaurant fails to offer value for money, and we are unlikely to return in the near future. "Food was bad, most of the starter dishes pre cooked and appear at your table in 2-3 minutes. Lamb was terrible, wine list is pretty bad. Tiramisu was made by somebody who never ate a tiramisu before. No idea why this place has good ratings. Just avoid. We spent couple of hundred pounds for dinner and the experience was like visiting a burger stand at the mall."

"This is absolutely one of the best places to eat in the south west by miles!! It is consistently fantastic with wonderful fresh produce locally sourced. "The Carpenters Arms has largely improved since the new manager has taken over. Probably the best pub food that I have had in Sherborne the chef clearly takes pride in his work, not to mention the value for money! Was incredibly surprised when expecting mediocre pub food wish I had taken photos but it won't be long before we visit again. The improved decor throughout is much more welcoming and homely, with finishing touches such as blankets for the beer garden. We are looking forward to our next visit!"
