This restaurant is one of the top two places in the area for high quality Szechuan-style cuisine, with the other being Ichiban in Lafayette. Everything I tried here was made perfectly, full of flavor and rich in taste. In comparison to Ichiban, the Golden Fish here has a lighter batter and is served in a smaller portion. I personally think the taste and spiciness is better with peppercorn here. The sauce at Ichiban m... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Peppercorns Kitchen:
This restaurant serves authentic Chinese cuisine with a focus on spicy dishes, including numbing spiciness (mala). Their non-spicy items are also delicious and comparable to high-quality Chinese cooking. I recommend trying their recommended dishes, such as the Xinjiang-style chicken, which may be hard to find in larger US cities. Although the food was good, I found glass in the water I drank.
You can enjoy many kinds of authentic Chinese dishes! The food is a bit expensive so I recommend you visit with a large group of people so that you can share multiple dishes while splitting the money.
Absolutely amazing food and quick service ! You can call ahead and make a reservation. We had the Spring Rolls, Hot Buns for appetizers. Both were amazing! For main course we have the Dry Pot Tofu, Mango Chicken and Chicken in Garlic Sauce. The Dry Pot Tofu was the best amongst all followed by Dry Chicken in Garlic Sauce. Be ready to pay 1$ per person for unlimited white rice. Your bill arrives with Gratuity included , I actually love this process … makes it lot easy! Visit here , it’s located right on State Street and Wabash Landings Marketplace
English is a second language at best to none, just have to point and hope. Customer service is terrible. Food is more inline with traditional style Chinese. Prices are very high, be prepared to pay upwards of a 100.00 for 2 people for a full course meal! Watch for them adding in a MANDATORY tip. What I don’t understand is the high prices for things like intestines and feet? Something Americans normally would throw out. I question the freshness of ingredients.
Had a wonderful meal there8/24. We ordered green beans, double cooked pork and tripe for appetizer. It is a true gem in Lafayette college town.we will drive up there from Indianapolis more often for good authentic Szechuan food.
