"Hadn't been here for about3 years. We had our Probus lunch there and we were all impressed with the food. Service was slow but we were all served at the same time. I will be going back soon. The 2nd best Sagwala I have had. The lamb was tender too. "A seperate vegetarian section of the menu makes it super easy to order. Most dishes however contain ghee, so you need to ask milk for free to make this vegan. The staff is super courtesy and happy to help. You might try to warn you that it will taste worse when milk is made free, but the dishes I tried were delicious. I had the Chana masala and the palate. They are also able to make the naan or roti vegan. Excellent service and food. Great vegetarian option for Whakatane. Would like to dinate again and recommend others."

"Cute cafe attached to the Awa Motel we stayed at. Friendly service, yummy meals, generous portion size, plenty of options including vegetarian. Recommend dining in for breaky if you're staying at the motel."

"Oh my goodness absouletly fanfreakingtastic!!!!!! The service was friendly welcoming the decor was extremely comfortable (very important to me) and loved the mirrored back wall made it feel like lots of natural light, could see beautiful outside view of Whakatane river Deliciously divine food that was amazingly presented, was art on a plate that left my taste buds skipping a beat. HIGHLY RECOMMEND look forward to my next visit"

"I haven't had fish n chips in a long time so thought I'd give Gibbo's a try as it was highly recommended to me. Well I was very impressed. Tidy and clean shop with a few tables inside, but they are definitely spoilt with the stunning setting outside looking over the harbour out to Whale Island. Staff were friendly, very generous portion sizes, crispy batter and crispy kumara chips. Never had such nice kumara chips before. Best fish n chips I've ever had. Best part is sitting on bench seats outside enjoying the meal with beautiful view. Highly recommended."
