I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. We decided to try the halibut and shrimp dinner, and the portion size was huge. The batter was light and flaky, exceeding our expectations. View all feedback.
What Orie Jacobs doesn't like about Captain George's Fish & Chips:
We stopped at the restraints t for a quick lunch. I ordered the fish and chips and my partner ordered the fish and chips with salad. At first we were told the is. I more lettuce so we can't get a salad. Then the food came I think the cook over dosed on the salt. The fish batter was so salty it was unbearable. When all done we are less than 1/2 our meal would not recommend this location at all View all feedback.
Saw that they are now open again in Brooklin, last time I was there the fish and chips had a greasy taste from the fryer's not being properly cleaned and not set at the correct temp. I know this chain from years ago and always had a good product which ment that management was not following procedure properly I'm hoping that this has all been corrected and am hoping to make a visit in the near future.
No fish just batter. Well if you count 2 millimeters of paper thin flakes of fish hidden in the batter fish then thats fish. Overcooked cries. Stale coffee. Oh god awefull. I had been driving by this place for years. Its large and been here along time. I should have kept on drving. My mistake just once though. The coleslaw and tartar sauce was homemade and good but that just dont cut it. In all these years here I figured they would be decent but I was so wrong.
The food is terrible. When we complained about some food quality they didn't take it off the bill they gave us a percentage off. Never going back.
Somethings up here....only people in restaurant thst could hold up to 8. Food not great but not terrible. ..avoid Not worth it ...almost scary.
My son was up visiting from North Carolina & had a craving for Fish & chips Americans do not make good fish & chips We went up to Captain George's for lunch The fish & chip portion served was more than generous Beautiful light crispy batter not greasy Fish perfectly cooked French fries golden brown None burnt The coleslaw was creamy and delicious.
