chain restaurants are just not the way to go...certain things on menu aren't bad but not worth the price and the crowds family owned place are way bettter

"Once you have the foot on the antique tile doorstep and open the doors the sweet smells of Ballyhoo great your nostrils and immediately after your taste buds start water for what candy await in this shop. The store had an old time vibe with a counter of candy and treats, left is a small dining area with tables and chairs, but the real price is the series of ice flavors served in homemade waffles and bowls. We talk about flavors like Peanut Butter Banana Graham, Tandy Cake, Fudge Pretzel and the list goes on. You have a complete menu of sunflowers and splits, malt and swimmers. If you want an old timely feeling, with modern takes taste and classic favorites, pop in! And for the Harry Potter fans out there they make a butter beer!"

"Food was very good service was also on point. We had a large group (25 post funeral) and they handled everything well. Food was hot and everyone was more then pleased. Chicken francese was light flavored but very good. Roast beef, mashed potatoes etc were all well done. It was comfort food after a sad event. Don't forget your ID if you want a few drinks. Glad the quality food at a reasonable price has carried over from the old Barnie Street inn days."

"Absolutely fantastic! We came to the poconos for skiing and decided to swing by Umami Gorilla for dinner. The cafe is super cute and cozy with surprisingly a lot of seating. The chef made the food fresh and quickly. We ordered the KFC bowl with bacon mac and cheese and the buffalo cheese steak with chili. Everything was delicious and the KFC bowl was our favorite. For dessert we got the belgian truffles, which we are obsessed with. Vegan chocolate done right. Would definitely recommend!"

"Its under new ownership so no liquor or wine for another 2 months. Wish I knew that when I reserved on Resy. They (the server)asked me if I got notice from google that it was a byob. I said I did not. Anyway, the place has gone down hill. The food was very bland. Maybe a glass of wine would have improved the flavor. I ordered the chicken verona and received chicken francese. They patron next to me almost got my dinner. I had cut into my meal before I realized it was the wrong dinner. The poor guy next to me had to wait for another entree. Ravioli was so so said my husband. We had leftovers. They gave us a large brown grocery bag to package them. Weird. So, we are officially done with this place. After reading some of the reviews from last year make me wonder. Yes, the place has changed and not for the better."
