This pub is amazing with flawless hospitality. They catered to every request, such as gluten-free options and serving a filet of fish instead of a whole fish, perfectly. The food was delicious, with a wonderful balance of flavors and textures. None of the 13 people in our group had any complaints - only compliments on how wonderful the meal was. Overall, this was the best dining experience I've ever had, with beautif... View all feedback.
What SG1bbons doesn't like about The Dove Inn:
We arrived at the restaurant without a reservation just before noon in search of a Sunday lunch. We had visited the Dove multiple times in the past and always enjoyed our meals there, so we decided to give it another try. The server who assisted us was incredibly helpful and... View all feedback.
Had a lovely lunch . Recommended . Were great with kids as well. Good portion size and selection. Great food
Very quiet but was a Tuesday night a steady flow over three hours but rarely more than two tables dining at any one time.
Went out for a family drink last night with my mum, husband, sister and daughter to what we thought looked like a nice country pub. When we got there all was well, staff were polite and kind. After about half an hour this man came in claiming to be the owner, William I think his name was. He had clearly been drinking prior this visit. He was so rude to his staff and othercustomers I couldn't believe it. Me and my husband went out side for a cigarette, and when we came in I over heard him commenting on my daughters weight, about how skinny she was and didint look like she liked her food. My poor mother asked if we could leave because she didnt want to listen to him any longer. Im sorry but we will not be returning. And wouldnt recommend it to anybody, not to put money in his pocket!!!! He is a horrible person. How his staff put up with him I do not know..
I use to love this pub, but unfortunately the last few visits haven't been to the standard it use to. Pots of tea nearly cold every time I go there... I have to now ask for them to make sure the tea is hot. Everyone is really nice but the service isn't up to an excellent standard. Rather expensive for what you get.
Had a lovely meal here but we couldn't believe how quiet it was for a Saturday night. The Dove has a huge dining room but with only two other couples eating and overly bright lighting throughout, the atmosphere was somewhat subdued and sterile. On previous visits this was very much a country pub with a restaurant that served good food, but it really now is just a restaurant there wasn't anyone at all in the bar area and this further detracted from the warm, cosy, lively atmosphere we have enjoyed on previous occasions. The menu was varied and the food was high quality, well cooked and nicely presented. The service was also attentive and efficient. My only complaint regarding the food is that the prices were a bit higher than I would expect for an establishment of this sort. I probably wouldn't eat here again as it all seems rather soulless, which is a shame as the food was very good.
