The food is amazing. I’ve been coming here since 2013. Great deal on the meal deal which comes with the sandwich plus fries drink and a Sunday. They have flame grilled burgers! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 View all feedback.
What Jacob Mustin doesn't like about Allen's Dairy Treats:
Negatives: Major cleanliness issues and structural concerns
Bottom line: This is a cool little family-run spot with good, affordable American food. The old school vibe is fun, but the lack of cleanliness is a concern. There are dead flies on the window sills and tables weren't wiped down properly. The place needs a deep clean. We'll come back for the food, but hope to see improvements in cleanliness. I visited the restaurant today for the first time, attracted by its good reviews. However, when I arrived 15 minutes before closing time, the doors were already locked as if they were closed. Despite knocking, I was ignored by a staff member. When a white man finally acknowledged me, he rudely shouted that they were closed, even though they were supposed to be open for another 5 minutes. This experience was frustrating and off-putting, and I don't plan on returning based on their poor customer service. It should not take more than 2 minutes to serve an ice cream cone, and they should not have closed early. Disappointing, to say the least!
The burgers are delicious, top-notch. They used to have amazing onion rings, but unfortunately, they no longer serve them. It seems like they are trying to cut costs. Overall, the quality of the food has declined.
Type of meal: Takeout Price range per person: $1-10 Food quality: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Recommended dishes: Hot Dog Parking availability: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free parking lot Overall, this takeout restaurant offers delicious food, excellent service, and a pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend trying their hot dog dish. Additionally, there is ample parking available in the free parking lot.

Allen's is a long-standing favorite in Winston-Salem! We adore this restaurant. Allen's always has a bustling crowd enjoying their delicious Foot-Long Hot Dogs, Homemade Southern dishes, and Homemade Ice Cream. Their extensive menu offers consistently amazing options. They are the only spot in Winston-Salem where you can enjoy soft-serve ice cream with a variety of tasty toppings like Chocolate, Cherry, or Butterscotch. Located near WFU and Roses Department Store, Allen's is easily accessible. Despite what a previous reviewer claimed, this restaurant is not far from Winston-Salem at all! The friendly staff, which has been part of the same family-run establishment for over 40 years, adds to the welcoming atmosphere. While we wish they served breakfast, Allen's opens at 10 AM for lunch and stays open late. This is a must-visit spot for delicious food that everyone in the Piedmont region will enjoy.
