"HORRIBLE. Service at the bar was slow and disinterested. The unpadded wood chairs were both uncomfortable and incongruous with the elegant room. Once seated with a menu, I noted the absence of their famous lobster stew. They were known for this stew with the lobster shaped puff pastry atop, and this should have tipped me off the kitchen skill had plummeted. I ordered the lobster (chowder bisque to be followed by the lobster dinner. The bisque arrived, and other than looking a little dark, was nicely presented with a small portion of lobster. The lobster meat was tender and warm. BUT the bisque was ghastly. It had all the flavor of flour and warm water. It wasn't just bland; it was not food but instead paste typically given to children. Upon receiving this dish I proceeded to do something I have never done before: I called over the waiter and advised him this was not to my liking to cancel the entrée; and charge me only for the porridge if I were required to pay since I ate the piece of lobster (with the remainder of the gruel left undisturbed in the bowl). Without any inquiry over my dissatisfaction, I was presented with a bill for the bilge I paid and departed without so much as an inquiry or expression of concern. The inescapable conclusion is that the establishment is fully aware its fare is wholly inesculent; otherwise, general curiosity alone would have warranted what seems to be out of order or is there something else I might bring you or I'm so sorry our food has sickened you Certainly the pandemic staff shortage has hobbled the kitchen. But there are plenty of canned and institutional bisques that are at least palatable. Who hasn't eaten on an airplane. But this was far worse than airline food. The combination of poor food and unprofessional management compels dining elsewhere in Bar Harbor. That the restaurant would serve this compels avoiding anything from its kitchen. Look elsewhere for now."

"Food was delicious and the wait staff friendly and efficent. It was my husband's birthday and though I did not request anything special the food was special in itself) a birthday card was waiting on the table when we were seated and a free dessert was presented at the end of the meal. Lovely and thoughtful touch. Will definitely dine at Havanas again when in the area."

"We came here for breakfast and it was a great start to our day. Both the indoor and outdoor aesthetic of the place was really beautiful and had a relaxing vibe. We ordered The Usual and The Harney and shared a blueberry pancake. They were all so delicious! The servers were also very attentive and always checked if we needed anything. Will definitely come back here for breakfast or just to chill around the next time I pass by Bar Harbor!"

"If you are looking for an upscale restaurant with a more intimate atmosphere, this is your place. The surroundings are unique as the restaurant seems to be in an old house that has since been converted into a restaurant. The lighting is beautiful and the waiters are all very professional. Especially our waitress was very attentive and friendly. For our dinner we started with the crab filled mushrooms and the traditional lobster bisque, both were tasty enough. For our duck we both had the lobster Flieduccine - the flavors here were also decent and the amount of lobster in it was acceptable for the price we paid. We finished the night with their blueberry apple baskets with ice - it also tasted nice (although I am part of my own fruit warps that I make at home and Galyns did not convert me, ha). Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we would recommend you to give them an attempt if you are in Bar Harbor. You are located right in downtown near the port, perfect location for a walk after dinner."

"Wow! Amazing! From the oysters, to the lobster roll, to the blueberry pie, amazing! And to top it off, the customer service was the best. Awesome beer selections too. We are so happy we came across this gem during our vacation. Also, sit outside because of the amazing views. Armando was an amazing waiter!"

"Our Colorado crew of 11, including 5 kids under 11, stayed during the 4th of July holiday week. We were met by everyone with a welcoming, service oriented attitude. From the manager who was out in the public view and helping serve up during the ice cream social to the housekeeping staff who asked if there was anything we needed when we met them in the hallway. They made our children feel so special. The breakfasts were delicious a served with a song and a smile. The rockers on the porch at dusk were made to treat the adults to the relaxing ambiance of true vacation spirit. When we return to Bar Harbor, we will stay at this delightfully restful, truly Grand hotel. Thank you to all who worked from July 9 through the 12th. You made our trip special."

"Great way to start our vacation in Maine. The staff were so kind and offered travel tips and recommendations for our trip. Lobster Mac and cheese was phenomenal and the blueberry pie with ice cream was a great way to end the night. Very beautiful place."
