"After a long drive we were wandering around this lovely town searching for a beer and a meal. Although not yet open, the waitress unlocked the door and with lots of hand signals (we speak little French, she spoke little English) we booked a table for later in the evening. On our return, this popular eatery was quite busy (Sat eve) so we were glad we had booked. There was only one version of the menu in English, but that's all we needed! The male waiter speaks good English and put some effort into explaining the Plat Du Jour; roast cod on mashed potato with diced veg in a creamy sauce. I enjoyed this dish with lovely fresh veg and the fish was cooked perfectly. My partner had beef in beer with chips and salad. The meat was extremely tender. The trio of home made mini deserts (Tiramisu, chocolate mouse and apple tart) with a coffee was excellent. This was a bright and airy restaurant. The toilets were spotless (and had seats which are not always avialble in France). The staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Our bill for 2 mains, 1 sweet, 1 beer and 1 cocktail was 44 euros and worth every cent for good quality home cooked food."

"Beautiful interieur, friendly staff, bad kitchen for a star-friendly restaurant. the culinary experience is announced as surprise; they don't get a look at the menu or the number of courses, and that's okay. while I like to be served local products, it should have seasoned to increase the taste, at least with salt and pepper. after a couple dressed that one of was a piece (also not quite) mushroom with have to say delicious sauce, we have french french riders as last curs. as if: to avoid that they are starving. the paired drinks were or spot on or totally false combination. dessert twice was both with the snake of ice, not really original or surprising as apotheosis. Conclusion: good evening, but not worth money. a one-time visit."

"We celebrated NYE 2017 with lunch on the 31st at au Coeur du Monte a very welcoming and friendly restaurant with roaring fires and lots of traditional games to amuse the kids. We skipped starters as there was much to follow in the evening and went straight to mains. The fillet of beef, scallops and ham hock were greatly appreciated but my duck breast with a forest fruit sauce came up a little bit short. The duck may have been delicious and beautifully cooked but the very sweet and tasty sauce so smothered it I couldn't tell. I ate it all but would have preferred if the sauce had been more on the side or in a little bowl so that I could add as much or as little as I chose. The kids had sausages and cheese croquets and really enjoyed the place little distractions everywhere. Three deserts were generous and sufficiently sugar laden to threaten a medical emergency. With drinks coffees the bill came to €157 good value for a fine meal. I'd have given 5 stars if my duck had been allowed to shine."

"Very beautiful estaminet in the heart of Oudzele. The welcome is warm and the setting typical. I ate excellent endives with ham and perfect waffles. All accompanied by a recommended wine which was perfect. We all had a great time. I highly recommend this Flemish estaminet!! Parking: The estaminet is located on the church square, there are parking lots all around the cemetery. Meal type: Dinner"
