"This is a hidden gem, authentic Italian cuisine run by Simon and Barbara . Need to book but well worth the whole experience.We enjoyed it so much that we rebooked for a few days later, one of the best meals Michael and myself had and all made better by lovely Barbara explaining every dish and Simon who not only made every dish but had a great knowledge of wine. "I've left previous reviews for Yum Yums as they have always been very good all round. At the start of this week we paid a visit and I completed a 4 star review. On our 2nd visit 5 days later it was a different story...causing me to delete that review. I have to refer everyone to the review made by Ann R on 1st September 2021. When we first sat down everything was fine. The table was clean and the lady was wearing her mask. A couple left a better table and we quickly grabbed it as it was outside in the sun. The table was cleared from the previous customers but it wasn't wiped down. Service was good and the drinks good. This lady later finished her shift and was taken over by someone else. Have to say she was a very charming young lady and was very prompt with the service. However, she decided wearing a mask was unnecessary, as did the guy behind the bar making the drinks. When customers left, many tables were left cluttered for quite some time. Many customers had to sit at tables cluttered by people who had just left. They were eventually cleared. Every now and then the odd table was wiped down with a damp cloth. No anti vac spray in sight. We eventually moved inside as the sun started to go down We sat on the inside settee which was covered in bits of food which we had to brush off. I saw other customers doing the same thing. To top it off smoking was permitted on the terrace which is partially inside. Is this place covid safe? Absolutely no way. I think this is a don't give a damn attitude by the staff at this time. It seems this has been going on for some time looking at the review by Ann R. Note to the owner should you want to take it. This is an easy fix. These particular staff members including the girl with long dark hair who I think is English has great potential. Very pleasant and charming. Needs a bit of training so not too be so complacent. Needs to understand the rules and take hygiene more seriously. If you want to know how it should be done take a visit to Cafe Terazza up by the Marine Rubicon. These are ambassadors for attention to detail and hygiene. After many good previous visits I was really disappointed with this afternoons performance. You can take note of this or ignore it. Your call. You have a great place here in a great location. Many of us customers saw what was going on and we was talking about it. If this continues you may find your business taking a bit of a dive."
