Some guests complain about subpar food quality and high prices, while others praise the excellent service, lovely setting, and delicious meals. Despite some inconsistencies, many visitors enjoy the beautiful ambiance by the river and appreciate the attentive staff. It seems that personal preferences and expectations play a significant role in determining one's overall experience at this establishment. However, the general consensus suggests that The Red Lion offers a charming and satisfying dining experience in a picturesque location.
We deliberately decided to take a break. we arrived, a porter was available to bring our luggage to our room. enormous room, great view of the bridge, river the green. our dinner was booked on time and with good humor. in the did was the...whole time we spent in the red lion with log fans, always very good from early morning to late evening. we can't wait to go back, maybe in one of the huts next time, due to my difficultness to get. personal management, lyndsey in particular, would no longer have done for us during our stay. hasta la vista folks.
A chance stop whilst checking out Burnsall on a drive in smart car as we were on a short break in the motor home. Burnsall is a beautiful village and this pub has plenty of character to meet the Dickensian brief. We had bar food...of steak and ale pie and a vegan burger. A couple of cocktails. Very dog friendly which was great. Welcoming bar staff and a friendly atmosphere. Food was good and we enjoyed the experience.
What a disappointment Visited 18th September for Sunday lunch but wish I'd read the reviews on here first. The portion size was tiny, more for a child. The roast potatoes had been reheated, they were hard and dry and very hard to cut. The...veg selection was really poor, a couple of carrots and parsnip and a tiny bit of kale. No mash!!! The meat was practically non existent too! Definitely would not recommend and will not be having a return visit.
The standard of the food is not good enough to reflect the prices charged. Had the buttermilk chicken burger, it was overcooked chicken strips and skinny fries were tiny like those you get at the bottom of your frozen food bag. Could do better with...the presentation too. Very disappointed, which is a shame as it is a lovely pub.
My family went to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. We tried the new holiday menu and were pleased with every dish. The vegetarians in our group were especially impressed.
