This is a traditional pub in every sense of this description. Such a pleasure to see a wide selection of beers and drinks available, cut-off rooms, no food offered, no music, pure packed with people and their dogs with a conversation.... such a joy. Very recommended place View all feedback.
This is a classic British pub with traditional decor, a fantastic selection of beers, and a welcoming attitude towards dogs.
The black **** is a very cool century house that has been transformed into a pub and a gas house you really get a feeling of history here it is supposed to be.
We had read good reviews of the black swan before we came to york. we were not disappointed. the atmosphere of this year's free house transports one.
This pub is something outside the beaten path, but it is worth visiting. it was among the best pub food I ever had, if not the best. I ordered the steak.
A nice surprise. Looks a bit tired from the outside, but as soon as you get in there is an immediate change in the atmosphere. Very well maintained beers and an enormous selection plus ciders. I remembered my locals when I was younger. We sat in the garden and met very friendly people and their crazy dogs... and that was just at noon.
