Excellent meal in an outstanding setting. All our servers did a spectacular job, and highlight chased highlight with regards to the food. We ordered seconds (and thirds and fourths of the delicious sourdough bread, and could not agree on a favourite amongst the courses (LUMA pork, or the sea bass, or the cavatelli...? . In my opinion, the dessert fell a bit short as I prefer it on the sweeter side but that would be n... View all feedback.
What Michaela Hug doesn't like about Anna:
The food was good but overpriced. The restaurant tries to impress with Michelin star kitchen without reaching this level. Our visit was a nice experience but there are better locations in Zurich to eat at that price. View all feedback.
Anna is a really good restaurant, the fun surprise find of our trip. The restaurant is located 'off the beaten path ' in Zurich, but is easy to find and close to the tram. The room is spacious and decorated in sort of a concrete-chic manner. We did the six course surprise menu and each course was in fact a surprise. One of the highlights was a small bowl of green olive soup. The soup really manifested the flavor of green olives that was memorable and fun. Another highlight was chorizo risotto, sounds simple but I 'm sure it 's not and it was totally excellent. Other courses included a beautiful salad, a fish course with some pea puree, bbq pork (again sounds simple but it wasn 't). All were delicious. The final course was a vertical dessert with ice cream and assorted other goodies in rhubarb (I think) emulsion. Not simple and very good. Service was professional, friendly and unpretentious . Each dish was presented beautifully, and the server explained the sometimes complex items to us. Our need for gluten free dining was handled perfectly without fuss. Our evening at Anna was really fun and we will return next time is Zurich.
I first visited this restaurant for lunch around a week ago and was so impressed that I immediately booked for dinner last night. Every course of my three course lunch and four course dinner was fantastic. Each one was imaginative, extremely tasty and attractively presented. The lamb I had for lunch was probably the tastiest I 've ever had. All the drinks I had were of very high quality too, from the rhubarb cocktail with lunch to the wood gin and red wine with dinner. During both lunch and dinner the service couldn 't have been better very attentive and cheerful without being at all over powerîng. Contrary to one or two other reviews, I found the portions perfectly adequate, particularly given the intensity of the flavours. Four lean lamb chops and three thick slices of lean veal bellly seemed more than adequate as main courses. The starters may not have been huge but the flavours were so strong particularly the fish soup that they were also more than adequate, particularly when accompanied by the delicious home made bread rolls and creamy butter. The amounts I paid for lunch and dinner seemed perfectly reasonable; especially given the quality of the food/drinks, the very generous welcome/parting gifts from the kitchen , the plentiful free bread/butter and the minimal charge for water. I will most certainly be returning!
Very highly recommended! Great fine, excellent service and great ambience!
It was a wonderful evening. We were spoiled with fine food and competent service. We can only recommend the Anna restaurant.
We enjoyed the evening. The restaurant is nicely decorated, the service was very attentive and the food (4-course surprise menu) and drinks were very good. We will definitely come back and would be happy to recommend Anna.
