"The two of us had mixed reviews of this unprepossessing restaurant in the centre of Selestat. The décor is really basic, but this does not reflect the quality of the cuisine. I really enjoyed my Daurade main but my foie gras poele avec cepes et...poires entre was disappointing – the pan frying seemed to lose its marvellous strong flavour that is such a highlight on French menus. My wife was more equivocal, but did agree it was a good if not great meal. The waitress was very helpful, allowing us to sample several wines before selecting our bottle. As often in France, conversing in French helps create a good rapport, although the waitress did speak English, probably better than my French."
