"With my favored breakfast spot closed for remodeling I wandered about looking for a place to have breakfast on a Wednesday morning. As I walked along Paseo de la Reforma near the Glorieta de Deana Cazadora, passing the Embassy of Japan at Calle Rio Nilo at 10 a.m., I saw a small, good looking restaurant open for business mYbe 50 ft.away (on Rio Nilo) across from one side of the Embassy. Restaurante La Cicciolina. There are tables and chairs outside and also hi top tables and chairs protected by an awning. I chose to sit at a hi top. I ordered a breakfast of Huevos a la Mexicana and a cup of Te de Manazilla.. My waitress told fruit was included as was coffee. But, strangely at many restauRants like this in the city ... tea cost extra. Go figure. Coffee costs a restaurant owner more than a tea bag. I was pleasantly surprised when my breakfast arrived. The portion of eggs was large, and perfectly cooked. The fresh fruit plate was, for a breakfast accompiant, large. There was toast, a small portion of refried beans, a small salad and a a small bowl of potent chili sauce as a condiment. As for the tea ... it was excellent. The breakfast was attractively arrainged and presented. Service was attentive without being imposing. Cost of breakfast: Huevos a la Mexicana MX$120 Te de Manzanilla MX$40. In US$ at today's rate of exchange? Approx. US$12. Excellent value for the price charged."

"We wanted to get away from the Tourist spots in Zocalo and I found La Opera on line and we were not disappointed. It is an old bar with a Bar type feel to it. The selection of beers was good and we both had La Victoria which I do not find very often. We came here twice first time was just bar snacks and the second time we sat at a table for dinner. the food was better than expected and made for a very good Mexican night out without being overwhelmed by the touristic side of Mexico. A great place to meet and socialize with friends"

"This restaurant was recommended to us by one of the hotel employees. The food was very good, we tried the filete empanizado, ceviche and the aguachiles. The ceviche was the best, it was made with olives rather than pico as I am used to eating...it but it was great. Their margaritas and micheladas are also good, the only bad part was that they didn't have XX and my group somehow finished all the Indio beer they had."

"Went for Sunday dinner at PM with a reservation. Asked if we wanted smoking or non. Non it is so seated in the main floor dining room with one other couple and no one else arrived. The receptionist recognized we were Spanish challenged so...brought English menus. Restaurant closes at PM on Sundays. Nice decor, good lighting, fine sound track at low volume set the scene for an enjoyable dinner. Linen napkins, good quality cutlery. The service was a bit stern, but professional. Wanted a glass of red wine so asked for the wine list. They offer several by the glass. A new bottle was opened for my selection. Waiter brought fresh buns and olives (black and green and tasty) and a picante dip. Ordered the Caribbean salad with melon and mango in a sweet vinegarete dressing and a Cesar salad served in a baked cheese bowl. Both salads were good size and flavourful. For mains we each had the Chicken Marsala. A bit salty, came with mushrooms, mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. A little light on the marsala flavouring but otherwise fine. The dish was nicely presented with piped balsamic reduction rings on a white plate. For dessert we had the Creme Brûlée and Lemon icebox Pie. The brûlée was served in a narrow boat for presentation marks, the pie was too much for one. Washroom not checked, credit cards accepted."
