"I have been here three times in total over the years. The last time was in New Year 2017 when we visited some friends who live in Munich. The husband (an old friend from university) convinced me (with very little persuasion needed) that a trip to Andechs was in order. It's quite the trip, but ultimately worth it. A lovely, peaceful place with stunning views. The food is made locally (if not on site) and is very good (I stuck to Brezen mit Obatz'da good drinking food), but their beer is divine very little to choose between theirs and the beer brewed by he mighty Augustiner (another pilgrimage site for me). Lovely people, good service, great location, cracking vittles. Topped off by the fact that a German make voice choir was in the building for a visit that evening, and they raised the rafters with their wonderful singing. Top night my friend regretted it the next day though. Just goes to show that if you're going to down four Mass of beer, Doppelbock is not the sort of poison in which to indulge (nor is a round of schnapps on the way back home a good idea)!"

"In most German cities you will find a Kartoffelküche where they make simple fares mostly of potato. It is usually a safe choice. The Kartoffelhaus in Dessau is one of plenty in that sense and we were pleased with the meals served. The organisation and...friendliness of the service has room for improvement though"

"This is a simple small, family style hotel and Resturant. I have stayed here in the past but today just have dinner. The food was very good and the service was excellent. We were served quickly and efficiently. The Resturant bar area is rustic but comfortable. I would stay and stop here for dinner again. We all ordered the special which was pork, potato, and salad. This with a low alcohol beer. The server checked on us often and was attentive to our needs through the meal. The price appeared to be more reasonable than in the city centre."

"Hidden pub with lotsa local. Stood out being some Asian tourists but the experience there was good. Funny songs, great service! But word of advice, either book beforehand or go early for dinner. We were lucky cos table was available and food served was super fast. Missed the pork knuckles though!"
