"My wife and I am enjoying our food at Casa Vasca in Newark New Jersey. This place is a hidden gem, worth a visit to Newark, NJ. We lived for two years in the north of Spain and the food brought back memories of a wonderful time in our life; the bacalao, the chiperones, the lentil soup, the bread, everything was homemade, fresh and delicious! The waiters were all from Spain, although immigrated to the United States, and spoke both fluent English in Spanish. I had always thought of Newark as a slightly grimy town that I had to pass through on my way through New York City but now I have a reason to visit Newark!"

"Spanish Sangria a solid Newark restaurant. Being an out of town traveler, finding a decent restaurant in Newark can be a challenge; the pickings are pretty slim. After eating at Spanish Sangria, I can finally say, 'I found a decent restaurant in Newark. ' The interior was clean and modern. The bar was filled with what appeared to be a jovial group of locals with everyone speaking Spanish. Or was it Portugese? I don 't know don 't speak either one. <br/ <br/ The meal starts with the obligatory bread, which tasted freshly baked. They also serve a very nice onion soup with what tasted like home made croutons to garnish. I ordered clams Valenciana as a starter $11 . This was a generous portion of clams approximately 18 in a marinara sauce that had a smokey, peppery flavor. My main course was a paella $20 with lobster, shrimp, calamari, clams, mussels, chicken, vegetables and rice. There was enough food to feed three hungry adults. That said, it was a bit dry and a bit over cooked. The signature sangria $5 was good, but unremarkable. Service was impeccably attentive.<br/ <br/ The Spanish Sangria might have a bit of trouble competing across the river in NYC. But in Newark, it is a real find worth trying."

"An extremely pleasant experience. My friend and I popped in here unexpectedly because I live in this neighborhood and the owner was working and let me tell you truthfully- he is a very, very nice fellow. He introduced himself as Manny and was a regular cool person. He chatted with us, and the beers were ice cold and the appetizers were absolutely delicious and came out of the kitchen quickly. There are nice clear tv's to watch sports on and the place is immaculately clean and good afternoon ambiance, so I can tell you at night it must be wonderful!!! Bathrooms are spotless, floors are spotless, bar is spotless. A wonderful place that I highly recommend!!!"
