"After consulting TripAdvisor and Yelp we trusted our gut and selected the Wintergarten located just on the southern end of the central riverfront cluster of establishments. As a result, we had one of the best meals of our week in Northern Europe. My daughter and...I were seated at an open window overlooking the Mosel, and after studying the menu (English version available), we both selected prixe fixe 3-course options. First courses were the warm goat cheese salad (Ziegenkase mit Honig und Thymian uberbacken auf Blattsalaten)—excellent—and a smoked fish with hot Spargel (white asparagus – very good). Main courses were the pork medallions in Riesling sauce (Cochemer Schweine-Medallions), which were expertly prepared. For desert, we shared Apfel Strudel and a chocolate lava-type cake with fresh raspberries. Our server was attentive but unobtrusive, somewhat formal, and very good. The price wasn't cheap: 84 euro with beer only, but we both felt the meal was worth the price. Highly recommended."

"We went here after seeing the TA reviews. Not too far out of the main tourist area. Busy but we got a table. Service was rushed but friendly. Note than English menu has less options than German menu but we were given both so no...problem. I had the Jäger schnitzel which was in a lovely mushroom sauce with generous salad and fries. My wife had the pork knuckle which was huge not quite the same style we had in another part of Germany more ham than pork but it was nice and came with lots of good saurkraut. Riesling was good and everything was great value for the size and quality"

"An interesting restaurant we visited during our last visit to Cochem. The woman of the house, the waitress, is unbeatable. Very nice and very accommodating. The dishes of our choice were also very delicious. Absolutely recommended, even if it takes a bit (but it is absolutely necessary for the fresh preparation)."

"We had booked reservations for August 30th via email for 6:30pm. we walked around the city and went back to our hotel for a rest. we were all very tired and didn't feel like walking back in to town but didn't want to cancel on short notice. When we arrived, the doors were locked. We waiting until 7pm but it was closed. would have been nice to receive an email to notify us."

"We were due to stay at the Burg hotel on the evening of Saturday 29th April, our first night in Germany. After a lovely day riding the Mosel river valley we arrived just after 6pm to discover our room had been given to some-one else. Admittedly we estimated arrival time between 5-6pm. There was no attempt made to contact us prior to this. The one star is for finding us a hovel of an apartment to stay in - which had clean sheets but little else to recommend it. An upsetting beginning to our German adventure. We will not be back."
