"In Rockhampton and it is brunch time. We had seen in our motel an advertisement for the Merlo Coffee Café. It was just a few blocks from where we were, so that’s where we went. Then it got confusing …. Merlo Coffee Café is a part of The Coffee House Restaurant which in turn is part of The Coffee House Apartment Motel. Took me a short time to sort that out! After being warmly greeted, we were shown to a table for two, provided with menus and also made aware of the current specials even though we were there for brunch. A short while later we had decided and the duty waiter came over and took the order. No surprises with my travelling partner – fried eggs and bacon on toast. I was feeling in a healthy mood so for me crunchy Granola with coconut yoghurt, dragonfruit, passionfruit, blueberries strawberries and mint Greek. For both us a flat white coffee each. Costings were reasonable for what was on offer."

"I would like to give kay 5 star as a host and waitress absoloutley brilliant. Unfortunately very dissapointed with our meals ordered lamb and reef and beef. Lamb was drowned in balsamic vinegar and potato stack black and soggy same with greens. Reef and beef same ...Too much sauce !!!.. I won't return to this restaurant . We have been there on quite a few occasions and this is by far our worst expierence."

"Putting aside the lack lustre customer service, I’m afraid the ‘premium’ ribs from what I thought would be a great place to have ribs given the name) tasted far from. Despite the unappealing look of the sides, the ribs themselves were barely basted, lacking in...flavour and the pork itself quite average. Little bones within the slab and cartilage?sinew? I don’t know what it was but it was a put off, just ruined the dinner. Creamy mash? I can make lumpy cold mash myself at home. After trying the local Hogs and LoneStar, this one ranks last in our books :"

"Searching for a good steak in the steak capital of Queensland should be easy right? Well it is now. Not only is the steak (I had the Diamantina eye fillet) great and cooked to order, its thee whole setting which is an experience. The salt and pepper calamari with the beautiful feta and spinach salad were the best I have ever been served.. the dessert was a treat too. Worth every dollar!"

"This is our go to spot for breakfast as the big breaky and the sweet potato rosti (which can be done GF) is just too good. Good value and excellent coffee. There are also a few different Gluten Free options which is always a winner! Have also done dinner here and the dishes are just as good."

"Something a little different, a coffeeshop AND Harley Davidson motor cycle showroom. Situated 2 minutes walk from the econo lodge, city walk, it was a very handy place for breakfast as it opens early at 06:00 and if you have a long drive in front of you that is very useful indeed. You can have a full cooked breakfast or just coffee and pastries. The Eggs Benedict were particularly good. And while you wait for your food you can stroll around and admire the shiny new bikes."
