"This place is a hidden gem in Southbank. Absolutely amazing craft beer. The owners and staff are really amazing. The food is fantastic and prices are very affordable. Really cool vibes. Did I mention the staff are awesome and so accommodating when I want both rice and a baguette for my curry I'm sure they try not to laugh but what can I say I live for carbs"

"TL;DR: It will all be subjective if this is your sort of pizza, but what is not is that the cooks here do care to craft out each one as planned, and to order. They have found a way to make all of that work, and throw in a few extras on the side as well. It is like getting the bar food delivered straight to your door, for when it is game day. <br>

I promise I am going to keep the mentions of Chicago to a manageable minimum here. Just a head's up. <br>

With pizza being so commonplace as an option around town - from the known chains, to so many Italian restaurants, to gourmet options which have now become chains in themselves - it is hard to know what to do differently in regards to pizza. Different options do pop up from time to time, and many go really outrageous for what they put on top of it. Well, enter the New York Slice - named and famed after the idea people have of so many pizza-by-the-slice places that are around the titular town. They have scaled down the pizzas to make it fresh and hot, all from scratch, and guaranteed to be as quick as possible. <br>

Well, it was going to be another big weekend for us wrestling fans with a couple of back-to-back events showing on the WWE Network. It was in town - if you live in Chicago - and the first cab off the rank was none other than an NXT Takeover. A wrestling event to me means hitting up the old delivery and having it in front of the said event. For one thing, I could not find any pizzas in the style of Chicago (and I have tried doing that multiple times to no avail) but there were several options for pizza nevertheless. Enter the "enemy" - New York style. That, was completely coincidental; one of the reasons it was chosen was to break from the norm a bit plus it was open around that time - pizza is hard to get during the day as well. Plugging that sucker into UberEats - and this was a third time lucky this time around - all that was done was to sit and waiting (successfully) for the order to arrive. <br>

Now I love myself some American cuisine, but would probably have a fairly limited exposure to it even in going to practically all those restaurants. So when it comes to the pizza, I don't have that much knowledge about it all outside of hearsay. One of these comes down to the pizza slices that can be gotten individually, which have sort of gotten off here in their own way. One old chain that has come up around town in the last few years goes by the name "New York Slice" getting that novelty idea into mind, and they sell it by the slice. Whether here is a spin-off of that, or a different entity entirely, I am not to sure. Nevertheless, it ain't so bad and has its own character. In asking my house mate, this ain't Italian - it is American through and through. <br>

All that has to be known about the service is this, the ordering was done quickly and effectively, plus the time between the order getting picked up and arriving at my door was one of the shortest yet. This is UberEats in its essence, and something about the rough-around-the-edges mode of dropping it off really gives it its character, and cuts even more hassle off of the delivery process. It was more like that, this time with the driver not even stopping off to the side of the road - not that it is a generally busy road as is. <br>

The range of pizzas which they have is pretty small, and the designs are fairly simple. Each of them are usually served by the slice, but they are able to be upsized to feed multiple people. Another addition is that they are able to be custom-made with the sauces, the cheeses and the other toppings. Each one is able to be gotten as a baguette in addition to that. <br>
<br>
If there was anything that called out being the go-to for a big sports weekend, this would be it with some of the other additions. There some wings, different sorts of loaded fries, a range of big sodas to drink, and some sweets on offer as well - dessert pizza, sticky date pudding et al. Lots of fingers foods, all of which are pretty simple and straightforward. <br>

Since it wasn't going to be a really big event, I kept it back a little bit. Therefore, that was two of the regular pizzas which were a pepperoni one - simple pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and red sauce (and ordered with jalapenos), and a supreme - red sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, beef, capsicum, onion, olives and mushrooms. Along with getting a couple of pizzas, I also went to get a couple of sides to spruce it up. Luckily for me with the mention of it being American cuisine, some buffalo wings were ordered plus some loaded fries that were topping with diced buffalo chicken. <br>

All of this did well as a modest lunch in the middle of the day, though don't expect it all to be really filling. Hindsight might have had the pizzas be ordered the size up from regular, however that does not mean they aren't substantial in their own way. Taking much of its influence from the Italian population, the pizzas are derived from the traditional style of being a thin base which can be folded and having only a few ingredients. Both of these were decent enough, and it was apparent that they put care into the quality of each slice. It is also apparent, that each of the items selected to go with each other is also a method of selection. Really, all that might have been needed with the pizza is a herb of some sort since it did need a bit more of a tinge of flavour. The jalapenos were certainly a welcome addition, plus every item was fresh, health, and easily identifiable. When it came to the base, there was something I could not put my finger on. <br>

Anyways, what came with the pizzas was actually by far the better lot. While I have definitely had better fries, and there has certainly been some worse, inedible one as well, these were still decent and I ate them regardless. They were soft, had a decent seasoning on them, and the topping was what made it. A lot of cheese, some finely diced chicken - decent cuts of meat as well - and that wonderful buffalo sauce really brought it home. That sauce completed the wings as well, and those suckers were good as is; the meat was tender, they were fried and crispy, and the size of them was solid. They were hot and delicious, and might well be some of the best yet that I have had around town. <br>
<br>
To put it in a brief sense of the word, this place did not suck. I definitely can see the pizzas are good quality, and while they are not my preferred method of how they are prepared it is simply down to the fact it is a different style entirely, and some will take a liking to it. I would still eat them again, since they were a good and filling snack. Respect is always given from me if there is a new spin on something, especially if it works or has potential to work and have a potential appeal to someone - even if it is not me."

"The French Bistrot was a good experience. The service from the staff were great and they suggested good dishes. The location is good but the restaurant is too compact and not fancy for the price charged. Value for money is not good unless you book through “The Fork” with 50% off. Prawn and Calamari with cheese Salad The prawns and calamari were cooked perfectly but the cheese sauce was too salty. The salad felt a bit old. 2/5 Grill Pork with roasted potatoes salad Pork was unevenly cooked with 50% mid rare and 50% Medium (not sure how they did that). The salad again is same old (a bit soggy). Potato’s were delicious with nicely seasoned. 2/5 Chicken pesto pasta The pasta was cooked perfectly and the pesto dressing was delicious. Chicken was unevenly cooked with some part of being soft and some were super Hard. The pasta was filled with oil. 3/5 Totally, it was a good experience."

"We were in the city attending an event and using my Entertainment book membership, found this place near by. It was really busy but the staff were really good clearing tables and find us, and others, tables. Again the staff were good with taking our drinks orders and then our food. Normally if you good elsewhere, when it's busy you seem to get forgotten but not here. We had the house burgers, which were huge and very tasty. A great place for catching up with people or a bite to eat before heading home."
