"Nice little cafe selling gluten free and vegan food. We sat in the outdoor seating area and enjoyed a gluten free blondie and a vegan ginger flapjack with our tea and coffee. Both were delicious and reasonably priced too."

"Popular cafe on Union Street serving the usual breakfast, jackets, etc. Service is usually quick despite sometimes busy periods, and staff always friendly and welcoming"

"I think there’s been a cafe here since this unit was built just up from Dingles more than half a century ago. Friary Mill with its main factory out at cattle down provides a consistent standard and range of everyday pasties, rolls and buns/cake etc. Prices feel just a little over average for Plymouth. Provides a functional basic takeaway and sit down service for shoppers and those waiting for constant hoards of buses. Might grab something to take out if in a great hurry. Plymouth badly needs a quality speedy made to order doorstep and baguette shop. I wouldn’t come to a Friary shop/cafe by preference."

"Deary me. The coffee was great but the service was painfully slow and I could hear every conversation. No sense of urgency, constant chatting, bored staff who didn't want to be there. Took at least minutes from ordering to get three coffees. The bloke...behind us got his bacon sandwiches before the man in front even had his coffees. Four staff were on and it wasn't busy. A fifth lady came in at one point and sliced a cake. Our drinks sat on the side whilst they chatted about something or other I never leave bad reviews but reading what others have put I wasn't imagining the terrible service. Drinks Service I nearly went with star but I didn't have the heart as the coffee was good."

"A 'Luxury cream tea '? Just because it was a cherry scone? Tea was weak (budget tea bags) when we asked for another tea bag we were charged an extra 60p each! I rang Vicky (the manageress) who told me that she has to charge for any extras and thanked me 'for my feedback '! At £5.75 for this not so luxurious cream tea, I think it was very disappointing. I 've had coffees there on many an occasion and they were fine. However, the tea was definitely budget and weak. I suggested that when they offer a choice of scones, they should inform you of the price variation too. I definitely won 't be having a cream tea there again. Otter nurseries do a much nicer tea."
