"Visited on 17.10.2014 General/Ambiente The “Schlupfwinkel” is a popular daytrip with approx. 100 seats in the 3 original interiors and approx. 100 seats on the two outdoor terraces. Very popular is the inn also at Bikern, which meet here in beautiful weather every Tuesday from 17:00 onwards. Unfortunately, the access to the local area is somewhat adventurous, the access road of St.Wendel, the “Wurzelbacher Weg” is not particularly car-friendly, the narrow road sown with percussions is rather a field path. Once you arrive at the inn you will find enough parking spaces. Since 1978, the excursion hall has been run by Wilma, the “oldest host” of St.Wendels. In addition to a daily changing dinner at moderate prices from €3.30 for a “Worschtbriehsupp” to €8.60 for a menu “Suppe and Schaales with Apple Muse”, the slip angle offers a well-tuned menu with petty-bourgeois dishes such as schnitzel, steak, chickens and a selection of snacks and pizzas. Much praised and also the reason for my visit today are Wilmas chickens. But so much before: today I was rather disappointed. Service Usually, a service team from young waiters is friendly, flotted and attentively served in the “sleeping angle”. Even today I could not complain about the service at the table. However, I had to wait a long time for an operation. When entering the guest room, I nodded the gentleman behind the counter and took space in the side room. Here I waited approx. 10 minutes for an operation. Why the Theker didn't send me the service, I can only guess, maybe he was overwhelmed with the beer pin or just distracted by talking to the guests at the counter. So I changed the seat and noticed me right at the waitress. From there it worked again with the service. 4 stars for the young lady, 1 star for the cartridge behind the vault makes swelling 3 stars. Eat I ordered a 1⁄2 chicken with supplement salad at 8,80 € and a mineral water at 1,70 € The supplement salad came shortly after the drink. A fresh leaf salad with acceptable vinegar/oil dressing and self-made carrot and herb salad, unfortunately served almost without love in a small plate. The chicken was served with two slices of baguette. As mentioned above, this pod was not a revelation. There are many ways to prepare a chicken, the best I find is the preparation in the grill with spine, followed by the oven, or even better in the convectomat. In the slip angle, the bath has been placed on the hot oil for years. There are the most beautiful frituses that automatically lower the chicken and release it from the bathroom after the time it was introduced, but a few minutes too long can already add enormously to the poor chicken – just like the bird that was served me. To the middle, the flesh was dry to fibrous under the skin. Unfortunately, the skin was not as loosely crispy as usual and also the very good marinade had lost a lot of taste. So this chicken came on average, not bad, but also not very good. OK and 3 stars In the slip angle there are chickens every day.... but in my opinion not the best. The competition does not sleep, see my reviews about the restaurants “Bistro Insel” in St. Wendel or “Wolfsborner Hof” in Herchweiler."

"Visit on 07.06.2015 (see also review from 06.11.2014) General We were once again in the most beautiful beer garden St. Wendels. You must be lucky to get a table in nice weather and weekends. We were lucky, a suitable three table was just released when we were in the lasy beer garden at 19:30h. Service As usual, despite high-level operations, we were very busy and attentively served us this evening after a friendly welcome of the partner of the owner Ralf Riedschy. The drinks came fast, the food took a little longer, but we were told before. I shortened the 40 minutes waiting period with a deliciously refreshing Karlsberg Ur Pils from the barrel in the Steinkrug 0.5l to 3.60€, my companions had a dry Riesling and mineral water. From the small beer garden map we chose a salad “Rustikal” with roasted potatoes and fried eggs, a salad “palm” with fillet tips from beef and roasted mushrooms, as well as a flame cake with salmon. The salads consisted of crunchy fresh salads of the season, thinly covered with finely spiced, slightly piquant housewear, as well as various homemade tasty raw food salads, the perfectly roasted crispy roasted potatoes were crowned with a neat mirror egg, the fillet tips of the beef were plentiful, nicely tender and hand-made, at the flame. All again a beautiful evening in the “Palm”, great food in a beautiful ambience. Service The waitress was friendly, attentive and fluttering. While we had a look at the small “Biergarten Card” on the table, she informed us about the current daily meal when ordering drinks. We ordered a large bottle of mineral water, which was well heated after a short time in the beverage cooler. Even the food came after a pleasant waiting period. Goats We had a salad “Rustikal” – fresh salads of the season with roast potatoes and fried eggs at 8.00 € and the daily dinner Paprika Rahm Schnitzel with croquets at 7.00 € and a small additional salad at 2.00 € As a greeting from the kitchen came a large herbal cucumber with freshly baked baguette. Rating: All ingredients were fresh, prepared from good quality and delicious. The salad, consisting of various leaf salads, iceberg salad and chicory leaves, has a delicious freshness and a well seasoned, picantly decorated cream dressing. Crude foods were carrot salad as well as two kinds of herbal salad, once coarsely cut and spicy, once finely sprinkled with a slightly sweet note. The roasted potatoes were finely cut and golden yellow crispy with a mirror egg roasted above. The daily meal, two small carvings beautifully thin, covered by a perfect panade and fried golden brown, was also very good. The sauce with green, yellow and red peppers (fresh and without canned) was delicious, but could have been more courageously spiced. The croquettes were flattered. Today the kitchen was able to convince and receives 4 stars"

The restaurant is very family-friendly, as the café offers – unique in the vicinity of St. Wendel – a very large and friendly bright children's playroom. There the little ones can really thrive and the parents can eat grandparents in peace. The staff of Café Balduin is always motivated, friendly, attentive and fleeting. Breakfast: you can choose between breakfast buffet for €9.50, including coffee or tea “capped” or one of the breakfast options a la carte, from “Balduin for children”, a children’s breakfast with bread, butter, mussel and a cup of chocolate to €2,90 to “Balduin Gourmet” with bread, bread, butter, jam, breakfast jam, sausage, cheese, etc. Breakfast is up to zero eight fifteen baking rolls I prefer baked goods from bakers around the corner absolutely ok. The best were the roast potatoes, precooked, quartered and nicely rugged, they tasted pretty good. On the other hand, the sausage salad – I can't express it differently – tasted like from the plastic cup of the discounter, too much oil, slightly sweetish, the sausage not bite-resistant, the cheese soft as melted cheese, as well as cucumbers and coarsely cut onions in consistency and taste. It was almost good that the part was not very lush, more I would not have eaten. Rating: Breakfast 3*, lunch table 2* Conclusion: Café with attractive breakfast, beautiful playroom for children, food without highlight – there is air on"
