"Our first experience with Max was many years ago in Double Bay... it was always a treat. The group expanded and there are now a few in Brisbane that we have visited. Each experience was worth the effort until recently.They have dropped the ball considerably at Carindale. There are many eating options in this shopping centre so nothing short of excellence is acceptable. Whilst our coffees were good, we were most disappointed to find :1 : 10% surcharge for weekends.......!!!! (we were there Sunday 27th Nov 1200 hrs) clearly a money grab in this day and age. The staff directed me to a sign behind the counter; Public Holidays I can understand.....I cant think of one other establishment that charges this. I was about to cancel the order and go elsewhere, but thought what the heck.... Max is always good.2 : Décor - is very tired. There are padded seats along the internal wall. They would have looked nice a while ago. Now the vinyl is torn and tattered and an ugly eyesore.3 : on sitting down, I lifted the chair to pull it into the table as I sat.... OUCH!! the seat padding lifted and I proceeded to jam the seat onto my finger... blood blister under the nail, very sore!! I advised the staff of the issue.4 : My wife commented she had been there recently and the place was half full, but every free table had dirty dishes on them. She said they actually left with her friend and went elsewhere after standing and looking around for a while. This day there was one table with dishes on it and we waited to see how long it would take to clear them (they were not very busy) the staff members brought out food for tables and proceeded to head straight past the table, back to the kitchen. After about 5 minutes, the table was cleared. In isolation this is not a major issue, but after my wife's previous experience, you tend to note these things, its not a pleasant look.The staff were pleasant and would think that there are some training or manning issues here. There were 2 staff members at the chocolate area who seemed to be chatting for most of our stay; so you don't get a feeling that 'teamwork' is flavour of the day.I would think that Max would be pretty unhappy with this establishment. We will not be back as there are plenty of other great eating/coffee options in the precinct."

"Our 3rd visit this year on a Saturday morning for breakfast. There is a good size under cover outdoor eating area at the front of the café. Full table service is provided. We have always been greeted with a bottle of table water and menus as soon as we have sat down. The cappuccinos are always good, and the meals arrived in a reasonable time. The prices of the meals here are a little more than we usually pay and more expensive than the same type of food from similar cafes, but the portion size is large. The big breakfast is huge and I always struggle to get through it. But it is delicious and freshly cooked. We will definitely go back again."

"We have been to Wray Organic Café at Mount Gravatt many times because they have the best real hot chocolate! You get chunks of real dark or milk chocolate and a teapot full of hot milk. You mix the two together to your own liking. It is just awesome. There is also a good range of fresh slices, tarts, biscuits, little cakes, etc., all made with good quality organic ingredients. We had the Chocolate Almond Brownie slice on this visit and it was just delightful. There is a large air-conditioned dining area at the front of the store with "help yourself" filtered table water and glasses. Free parking is right outside the door, and they have long opening hours to suit everyone. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there is also a very good range of organic market items and produce. The only down side to this interesting market and café is the prices. Everything is very expensive but it is also excellent quality so you pay for what you get. We will continue to visit regularly just to get their awesome real hot chocolate drinks, and we usually end up buying a couple of other items while we are there. They also serve breakfast, morning and afternoon teas, smoothies, shakes, etc."

"The service here was appalling. Upon arrival on a busy Sunday morning, we were informed that there would be a 20 minute wait to be seated. The issue wasn't the wait time, but the impolite, smug attitude of the lady at the front door who was seating people. At no point were we offered an update on when our table would be ready despite there being multiple tables unattended in full view. We won't be coming here again."

"This is as simple as it can get. A hole-in-the-wall, some coffee, and sitting out on the pavement (albeit on chairs). It might not be on any hot list for coffee, but when you want some here it is. <br>

I had a favour to owe with my house mate/dining buddy, and he is a simple man with it. A new coffee place would have done the trick, and it was also a quick stop-over whilst both of us had our schedules to attend to. This led here, which from a couple of previous visits, the options available were assessed including here - a simple coffee place, one that is literally a hole-in-the-wall. Basically, it is the usual storyline here of trying one of the local businesses, and ticking each one of them off, and this was easy enough. Nothing more complex than that. <br>

About this place, it is so simple it could be summarised in a single paragraph with both the interior design, and the service. Service is pretty much what you want. The girl here had that young and coy demeanour...
