"We stopped at Chateaubriant on a Normandy motorcycle tour and found Croissant Dore almost random. It was ideal as a coffee stop . The coffee was great, Madam la Patrone was incredibly helpful, and we all agreed that the pastries were something of the best we ever had. The apple with raspberries in a juicy crust was amazingly un douillon or douillion."

"Situated alongside the newly refurbished rail station, which now serves Nantes as well as Rennes, this restaurant is also just across the road from the castle. Stopped here with my wife for lunch on a Friday in late November and upon receiving a warm welcome shown to a table of our choice. The menu was somewhat limited but eventually we settled for the `menu du jour' at 11.90 euros each for 3 courses including a small carafe of rose wine - a price that appeared to be competitive in that part of townThe service throughout was good - the actual dishes selected consisted of a starter of egg mayonnaise salad, a main of cabillaud (cod) accompanied by potatoes and other vegetables, finishing with a dessert of creme brulee. The food was quite acceptable, although in our opinion not in any way above the norm.The location is ideal, especially with accommodation for an overnight stay and with its proximity to trains, the coach service to Angers and the old town; in addition to their own spaces for guests there is also ample free car parking in the immediate vicinity. On the minus side the bar/restaurant is somewhat utilitarian in appearance and the facilitiues could do with a little updating."

"Nous arrivons a l'arlequin il est 20h30 en compagnie d'un couple d'ami et de notre fils de 4 ans. Nous prenons un apéritifs sans alcool et commandons les pizzas et le menu enfant. On nous amène des apéritifs avec alcool, découvrant cela je fais constater à la serveuse que nous voulions un apéritif sans alcool et la elle nous répond "dans ce cas il fallait dire cocktail et non apéritif" donc pas d'échange proposé de cette personne.L'hamburger frite de mon fils arrive et la quelle stupéfaction, c'est un burger surgelé 1er prix, mon fils ne l'a même pas manger et à bien su dire à la serveuse que ce n'était pas bon.(Elle n'a même pas relever)Nos pizzas pâtes pas cuites pour mon mari et moi même et pour nos amis une trop sèches et vous allez rire le copain de mon amie a eu le droit a du papier cuisson sur sa pizza. Il en a fait part à la serveuse et la seule chose qu'elle a sur lui répondre " c'est des pâtes fraîches c'est normal".Nous étions tous tellement dégoutés que nous sommes partis sans prendre de dessert seul mon fils en a pris un vu que c'était dans le menu enfant mais même ça il ne l'a pas manger.Bref nous ne recommandons pas ce restaurant."

"I came here last year with my friend and returned this year with my family. the main cook and host is friendly and always courteous when we try to speak French. we do not do too bad, but he helps us when we are stuck....The service was in a decent tempo and not rushed or too slow. we were first in the restaurant at this opportunity and he fired the coals as we arrived. decor is rustic French and works well for the venue and the city. it is not gaudy, over the top or in your face. the main grill is in the restaurant and it is nice to see how your steak is cooked. that was delicious. we all had steak. my daughter had entrecôte, which was cooked nicely, but the chateaubriand steak was amazing. we had a medium, rare, medium and medium too good and everyone was made to perfection and the taste was devine. whether they have one of the tasty sauces or not the taste of the steak takes a bit beat. the potato and the sauce were also beautiful. we ordered the cheese for dessert and it came with brot and salat with dressing. I thought it was more of an appetizer, but it was nice. my daughter has the chocolate gateaux that tasted like brownies and was really good. this is the quality meal I had here and certainly returns."
