We visited La Villa for lunch while on an impromptu weekend trip to Puducherry. Originally intending to dine at Villa Shanti, we were directed to La Villa by the Villa Shanti crew, since there was no table available at the latter.Set in a bungalow reminiscent of the old French homes in Puducherry, La Villa serves continental cuisine, and a good selection of seafood dishes. The outdoor seating is recommended, since the area is shaded by trees, and the fans are always running; however, on a particularly hot day, I'd recommend sitting inside the bungalow.<br>

Starters - Corn-coated crispy-friend prawns<br>
Mains - Grilled Fish, Prawns Coconut Curry (recommended), Red Spaghetti<br>
Dessert - None, since we were pretty full<br>

Location - It is easy to find, and in the middle of scenic White Town.<br>
Ambiance - La Villa perfectly captures the essence of the French Colony area. The bungalow, the outdoor seating, and the <br>
Food - I highly recommend the Prawns Coconut Curry. It's fragrant, flavourful, and comes in a tender coconut shell! Another favourite was the creamy olive-hummus that accompanied the bread-basket. I was also happy with the portion sizes.<br>

Things that could improve - <br>
The service - While the staff was courteous, I had to run inside twice to request for cutlery.Others - An extra fan, perhaps?<br>

I enjoyed our dining experience thoroughly. Keep in mind that if you are looking for a meal on a budget, this is definitely NOT the place - our lunch-for-four amounted to approximately INR 3,800.

"This s a new building opend recently.. previously it was just opp..a old building.. looks like a bar(never been there)....so coming to this new building.. we went last week(1st time).. with 2 f my friends.. security said its 2nd floor( for families like a decent restaurant) n 3rd floor( for alcohol). 4th floor s roof top( only in eveng).. lift facility available.. we went to 3rd floor.. huge crowd inside the hall..full of guyz watchng crickt in tv.. having alcohol n fun.. since we had a girl with us we cant join 3rd floor.. orlese we would hav gone to 3rd floor.. then we went to 2nd floor itself. alcohol s also served here actually.. tv s also there. familes wer having food.. we had 2 beers( servd in yellow colour mug) since its a family area.. doesnt look raw.. u can hav a leisure time. and i orderd cocktail blue lagoon.. its good. then we orderd chilly pork(crispy), beef streak( potato sauce n little french fries, given along), calamary fry(kanava fish), chickn...

"I visited this place for dinner in December 2015 with my Husband and in-laws.After spending a tiring yet fun filled day on the beaches of Pondicherry, we were starving for some piping hot and tasty food.<br>

There was only 1 more table occupied, besides ours, so we were happy that service wont be delayed.Unfortunately just before we placed our order, a super excited group of around 9 people came in... (and boy they were loud).. but well... thats pretty okay.. but the only issue was the our order was delayed because of the group. There was surprisingly just 1 server that particular night (surprising, because it was a day after Christmas and a place like Pondicherry is packed with tourists.. so restaurants generally keep extra hands.)<br>

*Hot & Sour chicken soup:<br>
I loved it. in a lot of places they pour in more than necessary amounts of Soy Sauce in Chinese soups, which destroys the taste. But the soup here was excellent and had gracious amounts of chicken in it.<br>

*Prawn Yellow Curry:<br>
It was served piping hot, (just like we wanted) and was accompanied with steamed rice. I had never tried Thai yellow curry before, so I am not really sure if it tasted the way it is supposed to... all I can say is I loved how it tasted and it went perfectly with the hot steamed rice.<br>

*Penne Pesto Chicken: Okay there was a lot of confusion with this dish. It definitely had a Basil'ish flavour, but it did not have chicken.. and not a tinge of cream or cherry tomatoes , like it was described in the menu. We realized it when all of us had taken servings on our plates and tasted it. We asked our server if there was any confusion with the chef as that was not a chicken pasta. He went in the kitchen to confirm and came out saying, that the chef made something, but he doesn't know exactly if he made chicken or veg pasta... (ummmm... bad day chef??? I hope he was alright)We all had already eaten a bit of it.. and whatever it was, tasted really good, so we decided not to make an issue and asked the server to charge for whatever the dish costs. But when the bill arrived, it did not have the pasta on it.. we reminded the server but the management graciously offered to keep it that way as it was a mistake on their end.It was really sweet of them to do so.<br>

Overall, the food was amazing. The place was neat and cosy with a very simple and soothing ambiance and service was exceptional.Will definitely visit again, whenever I get a chance.."

"Cozy little place in white city. Perfect for a nice, quiet meal. The food is freshly prepared right next to you and is very tasty. We tried the mustard chicken with fries and the chicken vindaloo with rice. Unfortunately, they ran out of seafood. Both dishes were very tasty and well prepared. The portions and good and the food was filling. Great place to relax, eat, chat and enjoy the quiet night of the pond."

"This review is long overdue! Thali meals which blew our minds! Just. Yum. There were 3 different types of thalis : each better than the other. So rich and so filling. We couldn't help but go back here again the next day for lunch. Slightly expensive but definitely worth it!"
