"We hadn't planned to eat here, but a torrential downpour prompted a re-think on a Sunday lunchtime. There were owners/staff sitting down chatting and it was left to the younger (son to serve us. The restaurant was quiet (not a great surprise at noon), so...we had good service and there was no waiting around. There was also plenty of space for our bags and brollies. The crispy duck was...crispy...the salt and pepper squid....tasted as I expected. The mains were fine, if unremarkable. Portion sizes were ample. We didn't try any noodles (everybody seems to have strong preferences with noodles). The toilets in the basement weren't the smartest (each with a bin for loo paper) but were clean. They night be best avoided on a busy evening. Prices reflected the amount of food we had. I would consider eating there again, though would normally head down to Edgware Rd or across to Chinatown."

"It is one of the Korean restaurants that rarely open on Sunday. the place was obviously overcrowded and when trying the food, they know why. every court we had tried was savory and costly. the meat was cooked for perfection with all the right aromas. the menu is also complicated."

"Eating is great. the personal was attentive, without being intrusive and a real smile when we thank them for the good eating was a bonus. the spicy rice cakes were excellent and we will definitely be back."

"I've been eating at Japanese Canteen on Ludgate for years but my last couple of visits have been horrible. I've ordered the stir fried rice noodles with tofu and been served basically a lump of over-cooked noddles with about a teaspoon of sauce and a couple of bits of shredded cabbage, carrot and 4 pieces of tofu. This used to be my favourite dish and certainly not that hard to make. I've noticed fewer and fewer folks here at lunch so I'm assuming others are having the same experience. I gave them two tries but certainly won't be going back."

"I happened to visit this place for lunch a couple of weeks ago and realized that it was a huge mistake. The service was downright rude and the server had no clue how to treat their customers. We called for the appetizers and the mains, and surprisingly, the mains came before the appetizers, which wasn't exactly what we wanted. The mains were served without any side dishes, and the food tasted absolutely average and nothing more. That was my last visit to this place, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone else."

"The first thing I noticed about Arang is that its name reminded me of our favourite orange primate from the Jungle Book. There now you have an idea of just how experienced I am when it comes to Korean food and dining... We were seated on a nicely laid table and the staff were very flexible when 2 extra people turned up to dine with us (I didn 't know who they were either... and they quickly and efficiently added an extra table like these people were always meant to sit with us. I must take away marks though because the table was too narrow and I had to slouch in order for my shoulders to not be resting on those of the lady sat next to me... that would have been awkward because I had only met her once before. I 'm not exactly a bodybuilder either so I 'm sure other fully grown men have also faced this problem. I can 't tell you what we ordered either, because where I 'm from Asian food mainly consists of chow mein and fried rice, so my more experienced and worldly friends navigated the menu and ordered a variety of meat and some boiled rice to go with it. Wait don 't go! I 've added a photo so you can see what I had. The service was great (I think... again it 's new to me . The waitresses tended to our food making sure there was enough for everyone and that they were only served when correctly cooked. As a former waiter from the gourmet bourgeois establishment that is Pizza Hut, I appreciated how difficult it would be to provide this level of service, mostly because I could barely multitask between serving the unlimited refills, making sure the children didn 't draw on the tables and finding more cutlery after our stingy clientele took theirs home as a souvenir. Anyway I digress.... Pros: tasty food, attentive service. Cons: tiny seating space, drinks too expensive, not enough food (the last 2 are probably because I 'm one of those annoying fatties who is both gluttonous and stingy. Would I recommend?: Yeah why not! I can 't compare it to other Korean restaurants yet but it was good food."
