"This week I decided to walk the 20 miles of the first leg of the Offas Dyke national trail from Sedbury Ciffs to Monmouth. I park down at the start, a mile from the George, and walked for 9 hours, 46,110 steps reaching Monmouth at 5pm. The last hour or so my dodgy left knee was telling me it was too much. I caught the 69 bus back to chepstow and in those 50 mins it totally seized up. I got off the bus at M&S... no taxis in the rank... and hobbled to the nearest pub... the George 50 yards away in the hope a pint on HPA might lubricate my knee. Nope. The lovely people at The George (and sister bar The Lion opposite) gave me a lift to my car (dont worry, an automatic) what wonderful people! Life savers. Service: 5"

"There is something about this wooden-floored bar restaurant with old black white photographs decorating the walls, that always draws us in when we're in Chepstow.The staff are friendly, the prices are reasonable and the food is very good. The music is genuinely background, meaning that you don't have to shout to have a conversation and the street outside is mostly pedestrianised, so pleasant to sit in."

"This is a great pub with brilliant staff in a very friendly village, my party came to the village for a quiet stag party to enjoy us. we had one of the owners when we were, who was brilliant, a humble man who sorted our question. the lamb cake and zimmermann kuchen was especially delicious and would recommend. all in all a very pleasant experience with delicious food and would recommend with all holidaymakers."
