"Old castle beer garden. Those who expect a historic virgin as a location will be disappointed. the name originates from the location on the old Burger Straße, a meanwhile also traffic-paced north-south connection in the Cologne southern city. bier has a long tradition here, formerly the Küppers brewery was founded and ensures malt-shocked breathing air in the Veedel. the small beer garden with two types of beer from the fass gaffel kölsch and do not cry, the atmosphere is still relaxed. tom, which is at the beginning at the entrance and welcomes its guests who have to decide in the wall between “terrace” with a staggered and “garden” with beer benches. this year the terrace was reserved so ubiers did not fall the choice hard. first round ordered and the situation worked: mixed audience, students, pensioners, workers and Bonvivants are inconspicuous. we were probably the only tourist so the question about the menu was patiently negated: day offer on boards, that is it. "This is a must when you travel Cologne. The place survived peace, many wars, and real estate bubbles. And it is one of those major tourist attractions, where you will find as many nationalities as you might find on any major international airport; and yet, the locals well manage to outnumber the tourists. We have been enjoying the great local beer specialty - directly served from the barrel and simple but enjoyable food at competitive pricing many times – and not only during the famous Karneval, where the place for many serves as sort of a meeting point and anchor. We just love the place and its often funny peculiar service (Koebes) – a local institution."
