"This is a nice restaurant with great service and food. There is quite a selection of meals from sandwiches to full mains. I had fish and chips and my wife had the beef brisket sandwich. Both included freshcut fries with soup or salad. Some previous...reviews said that it was expensive but for fish and chips is fairly normal. Our waitress was very attentive and the meals came quite quickly. The restaurant is right downtown in a beautifully renovated old building with exposed brick inside. Not a lot of tables due to Covid but well separated. Great place to dine"

"We were looking for a place to get pickeral, not knowing it wasn't in season. The dining room is roomy and comfortable, lots of windows, and places to eat outside in summer. (I'm told people even come in on boats!). No pickeral today but my Neptune chicken and pilaf was excellent, as was the mushroom & wild rice soup (wild rice is local) and hubby's maple mustard salmon was cooked to perfection. The veggies were tasty and a good variety. They missed serving us our rolls. I'd recommend this restaurant in Fort Frances."

"Went to the Bistro 48 for dinner. The service was very good. I had ordered one of the flatbread pizzas. The presentation was nice and the duck sausage tasted very good but the whole thing was not hot and was very soggy. Couldn’t even pick up a piece without it flopping over. I will try the place again but do not recommend the flatbreads!"

"Visited with my husband and a friend friend had wings and loved them, hubby had a philly steak kind of sandwhich which he enjoyed. I ordered a queen size Prime rib steak Yorkshire pudding with garden salad as the side...the steak and the salad were brought on individual dishes with the explanation that the cook wanted to keep the salad cold and the steak hot unfortunately the steak was little better than room temperature so guessing they had to wait for the Yorkshire pudding to cook....as it was hot, although not sure if it was actually hot or if it was just the gravy that it was filled with. The salad was done with a spring mix of lettuce which was very bitter, the house dressing was the same brown color of the gravy au jus served with the steak but wasn 't much better than a very strong vinagrette. I ended up not eating more than a bite or 2 of the salad, and less than 1/4 of the steak when asked what was wrong, the waitress apologized and gave me a 50% off discount as she wasn 't able to arbitrarily take it off the bill. So, we may try again but I definitely won 't refer people there not unless I have a better experience."

"This is a great little restaurant to get a delicious home style meal. While not fine dining, the food is terrific and the service quick and friendly. I had liver and onions and my wife had a hot turkey sandwich with fresh roasted turkey. Both...meals come with freshcut fries and very generous portions. Try it for a great meal."

"Took about 45 minutes to get a table of 4 served with no one else in the restaurant. Seems take-out business is bustling which may be contributing to the wait. Food is just not that good. Ordered a panzerotti, it was under cooked (raw dough). The sausage it contained was not sausage. It was more like hot dog. Not a good combo. Others had chicken dinner. Frozen fries, chicken looked like it had been nuked. Overall, not very appetizing. If I had to drive through South River again (which is unlikely since the by-pass was built) I would probably pass on this place."
