"If you're around town late at night and want a good place to eat, el Meson is a good option. It serves a variety of mexican fast food options and the place has a nice atmosphere to it, a very rustic look."

"During a stay at Rancho La Puerta, an employee who lives in Tecate recommended this humble, authentic Taqueria at the town square (Parquet), near the town hall (Palacio). The owner, the founder's son, cooks food before you. Enter the street to see bright orange picnic tables and open kitchen. Our waitress was wonderful (I speak Spanish, but her English was fantastic). We pampered in the tacos including beef carne Asada, Barbacoa and pig served on ribs and in Salsa Verde. The Michelada (a traditional Mexican beer drink Tecate in this case of our and Clamata, which is tomatoes and mussel juice and with a spicy mix of chicken, salt, pepper) was the best I ever had. Don't miss this local jewel!"

"The place is nicely decorated, specially outside, very nice. Went in and had to wait a few minutes for waiter to show up. Ordered a couple of beers. they served the beers and went away. 15 minutes later had to get up to try and find someone and finally there was the waiter, asked him if they also sell food, he said yeah and gave us a menu. He left again, waited about 15 minutes and since he didn't come back, I had to get up and look for him. Found him, he came to the table, took our food order, it took about 20 minutes to get the french fries with meat and a mushroom dish. The dishes were ok but not impressive in any way. Again the guy disappeared. Had to get up looking for him and this time, he was talking with two girls and completely ignoring he had customers. I gave it a 2 only because the place looks so nice. For the service a 1 and the food a 2.....not recommended."

"On our way back from an overnight Rosarita Wine Country tour, the four of us stopped in Tecate on our way to Alpine, California and dined at Mariscos Cajeme. The ambience, service, and food are excellent. It cost about 1/2 or less of what one would expect to pay for the same meal in the U.S.A. We ordered and sampled around the table white sea bass (a delicacy), shrimp, clams, ceviche, fish tacos, and Tecate beer and a good white wine. Everything was fresh and nicely prepared. (Of course, before we sat down, I stuck my head into the kitchen and noted that it was pristinely clean.) KEEP ONE THING IN MIND. IF YOU ORDER SOMETHING "HOT" LIKE CAMERONES DIABLA, IT BURNS BUT WONDERFULLY!"

"Lugar muy caro y no vale lo que pagas por lo que te sirven. La vista es muy bonita y el lugar si está bien, sin embargo en los platillos te cobran ambos y se les olvida el sabor."

"As often as I was in Tecate, Mexico, I was always able to go right in this place... it could happen as a real dive. Maybe someone should get Guy Fieri there? Ok, last week it rained in mostly sunny San...Diego, so I decided to go to Tecate for lunch with a buddy of mine to get out of the rain (as if I went to the mountains, represents a lot of sanity on my part. I went through my normal routine, parked on the US side of the border on the last parking lot and drove down the hill in Tecate. The woman in the parking lot suggested we try Marsicos Sonora Querida, so we were there. This restaurant is located on the first traffic light that you drive down the hill from the border crossing area, at the southeast corner of the intersection. We were immediately greeted when we went to the restaurant and were led to a seat near a window. During our time there the server was friendly, attentive and not intrusive. Five stars for them! When we received the menus, they were in Spanish, so the server brought the restaurant owner, who translated the menu a little good enough to make a half-informed choice for our meals. We both had the Camarones Termidor (shrimp thermidor in English), which turned out to be an excellent choice! The duck was supplemented by a blisting hot large glass of a tomato-based soup with a small dish of cut red onion and cut cabbage, as desired. We had two huge cups of iced tea served with a foam head on it. Meals came on large oval plates, most of which were cooked by a lot of fresh plump shrimp in a white cream sauce with some mild slices of white onion and some cut celery. Also on the plate were a pot of a fluffy brown rice, some more cut cabbage, and a salad of tomatoes, cucumbers and avocado. I thought that everything was on the table when the server appeared with a large bowl house made chunky salsa (that was good enough to eat only with a spoon) and a bowl of fresh tortillas. If you see the price of this meal, remember that the grilled teas did not usually appear to be refilled free in many places in Mexico. My only disappointment with this meal was that the restaurant ran out of my favorite dessert, flan. Our review for these two meals came to a total of US$20.40 (the exchange rate for US$1,00 was MN$20.47)"

"I've been to both their first location and their second location. Definitely not a place for eating just for drinking and hearing load music and watching sports on their many TV screens. Appetizers were decent but their burgers and arachera were over cooked and tasteless."
