"This restaurant is at the T junction of Hwy 430 Hwy 431. It 's interior decor is reminiscent of diners of yore. The Sunday night we were there, the chef waitress was manning the fort. We went because they were one of the few restaurants that are allowed and do serve moose. I ordered a moose dinner which is moose meat stewed in a mason jar and my wife ordered a moose burger. The moose stew was only seasoned with salt and the moose was fork tender and tasted slightly floral with a hint of herbal, indicative of what the moose ate. The moose burger tasted slightly less floral herbal to me but to my wife the burger was more flavor intense than the stew. The dinner was inexpensive, a tad slow, not much ambiance but very friendly talkative staff. I liked the stew enough to ask the chef waitress if she can sell me a jar. But she told me the restaurant was not licensed to do so. They can serve moose out of a jar but cannot sell moose in a jar. I still cannot wrap my noggin 's around that. She told me Earl 's in Rocky Harbor was licensed to sell jar canned moose. Later, I went to Earl 's and bought a jar of moose stew with vegetables and a jar of moose stewed with salted pork to bring back home. The moose with vegetables tasted more of root veggies than moose while the moose stewed with salted pork was no where as flavorful moosey as Frontier 's. If you are curious about trying moose, this is one of the few places that serve it. IMHO, Frontier 's canned moose is much tastier. Besides, Newfoundland is the only place I know that will serve you moose for dinner. This makes moose a unique flavor of Nfld. As an aside, something I don 't find in Ontario: I found a lot of restaurants in Nfld are combo of something and restaurant. ie., grocery store resto, gift souvenir shop resto, coffee haus resto. Uniquely Newfoundland?"
