"This is an unusual review. We pulled up on our canal boat and hour before sunset, in front of the restaurant, they were packing up with one last table of guests and a couple drinking at the bar. I jumped on my bicycle and went looking for a small market or shop to buy Anne a bottle of Rose and a Baguette to go with the French Onion soup that had been preparing for nearly 24 hours! Alas, it was Sunday night and most things were closed. I was able to buy a bottle of wine from a take away pizza shop, but no baguette. As a last resort I went into Dupont and asked whether they had some baguette that I could please buy? The lady behind the bar said no, and they were closing. Fair enough, it was the end of the day. 5 minutes later, back on the boat telling Anne I tried a man walked up to our boat, it was the owner of the restaurant Dupont et Dupont , with two half sticks of Baguette for us. With a big grin he handed them over, I offered to pay, he refused and just wished us bonne journée, before walking back up to finah packing up his restaurant. Oh lal la! Incredible, as I 've found over the years, but particularly on my circumnavigation (southernsun.voyage) the Generosity of Strangers, especially towards a traveller, never ceases to amaze, constantly renewing my faith in mankind. Someone prepared to do that and not ask for many says a lot about the person, and the establishment he is running. Bravo. Merci beacoup."
