"I was down visiting my old school friend and we decided to do a late lunch early dinner there as I had just finished at Kings college Hospital, was starving and she had always wanted to visit the shop even though she live in the area, I live 15 miles away. We arrived i can only assume was 4.55pm , We enquired about ordering and was told to place and pay for order and this would be brought to our table. Our order was surprisingly quick, so we enjoyed food and small talk as friends catching up. What we noticed was slowly staff closing windows and wiping and spraying tables around us, but paid no attention and carried on with our meal and talk. As potion sizes go , this is very big and we decided to pack some in a box as a takaway. 5.25pm It was then the service went down hill!!! First the lights were switched off , after calling to the staff to inform them we were still eating, we were abruptly told that they are now closed and we have to leave. One waitress even informed us she had been at work since 6am which im assuming was meant that its a good reason for us to leave. They then carried on to collect our plates from before us , without even considering if we had finished our meal , my friend had the fork still in her hand with food on. On discussion with staff , the don't care attitude , just leave , and no apology from either manager or who was in charge was appalling. We were told by passers by this resturant is always full with people of colour which would bring me to the conclusion why they just assumed we were one of the many who frequents their establishment. My problem is this: 1. We were never told the time the resturant would close on ordering, 2.If they had informed us on taking our order wecould have decided whether to order and eat quickly or take away and eat leisurely at home 3. There was no notice that they were closing , even when they were closing the windows, they could have mentioned then so we could have prepared ourselves accordingly 4. WHY take the order if you close in 5 minutes??? 5. Dont just assume your customers are regulars and know your establishment because we are not all the same. On that note I would never reccommend this resturant or even pass their threshold again. This may not affect them in anyway but its not my lost, There are so many other resturants to eat at in and around camberwell. If I have to comment on the food, it was ok not fantastic but im guessing its only because you get alot of it , which would mean its cheaply sourced. The chorizos were burnt rubbery and over salty, the salad had welted and the chips were not fresh. I was sooo disappointed on the whole experience, I was fuming on the day. Which ended my 3 day visit to my friends on a bad note."

"A delightfully low key place on the border between Lambeth and Vauxhall, right under the train tracks. Authentic Madeiran atmosphere and food, and the staff is courteous and friendly. Relatively reasonably priced for London, as well. Lulas grelhadas (grilled baby squid) were tender and sweet, and the Portuguese caldo Verde was soothingly smooth."

"We used to go once a week fabulous spicy grilled meats and unusual and delicious Portuguese dishes such as pork with pickles and potatoes, sea food rice, clams etc. Now they serve over cooked dry meat, anaemic chips and not much else. Friendly service and the chicken still reliably good. A big loss to our neighbourhood as it used to be a real local favourite."
