"I decided to book an afternoon cream tea at this hotel, with my friend as a birthday treat. I really wish I had not chosen this hotel. Upon arrival, there was confusion about my booking, my name, and if I had a voucher or not. I had no idea what they were referring to, but then felt disappointed that maybe there was a special offer that I had missed out on. The sandwiches were all stale and the cakes were rock hard, it was definitely not freshly prepared. The scones which arrived later on and the pot of tea were both nice. We were given no napkins/serviettes and had to use the table cloth to wipe our hands on, until we could find someone to ask for some. They seemed very short staffed. We asked for a glass of cold water, but were given hot water in teapot instead, it took a half an hour to finally get the cold water. We went to pay, but there were no staff around for a good 15 minutes to ask. Certainly not the high quality I would expect from a classy place like this. Such a shame that it was so disappointing and my special day was ruined! I am sure there are much nicer quality restaurants available!"
