"Absolutely fantastic. My wife and I have gone back and forth and have to say that this has been the best place we have ever been to. The food is outstanding, the cocktails out of this world and the service is beyond reproach. The entire service is one well oiled machine. Fast service and no long waits between courses. Unlike other places with a named chef Stuart was actually there working away with his team. Huge thank you to Christina who waited on us and Ollie from the bar who served great drinks and went off menu for us to create several drinks for us that were amazing. Most certainly we will be back and will recommend this to everyone we know coming to Edinburgh."

"Firstly, atmosphere. The arch literally melts away with a unique hanging couch design i haven 't seen anywhere in Edinburgh, Glasgow or Scotland, the tables are notably well placed although it may seem a little far to reach for some it lends to good posture and comfort. And before I talk about the food, let 's address the amazing service, i often struggle with the Scottish service sector, few can deny that some scots just shouldn 't. But this is something else, not overly attentive, but accommodating and delightful, will chat and follow up but don 't push it or disturb. Knowledgeable and down to earth, extremely polite and just good staff. And one more thing... There 's a icebox filled with crustations at the bar. Well played. Now food I ordered a rib eye (medium well, i don 't like blood) and the famous Mac and cheese, and everyone else got the sirloin. (Imaginative aren 't they) To start i got tempura prawns and mosteralla. The cheese was well olive oiled, peppered and presented. It was also really good fresh mozzarella which is the main thing here, the peppers were also really good and crunchy. The prawns came with puree tomatoes that weren 't great, over seasoned and a bit dried. However the prawns themselves were a multifaceted experience of batter and squish that you only get in premium seafood, 5 stars for a starter, no head but that 's a UK thing. Steaaaaks The ribeye was amazing, without sauce perfect, and with peppercorn, the best steak in the east coast besides Hawksmoor, for half the price. Enough said. The Mac and cheese was HOT but creamy And all those little burnt bits were delicious. The sirloin was delicious and well charred and salted. Overall amazing atmosphere, menu and staff. Also the business cards are chamfered, 5 stars for design. (If you can 't tell i came with Napier students)"

"Heard that this was one of the better places in Edinburgh to visit if you wanted a good cocktail. So this is were we headed. On approach it looks very posh (well it is in George Street) and inside the decor is rather grand if a little open and cold. No doubt this works well on weekends with large groups. We ordered some bar nibbles roast nut mix and the marinated olives. Good sized bowls and rather tasty with the cocktails. I was pleasantly surprised with the cocktails, they are a decent size with a good whack of alcohol. For approx £8 a cocktail you would hope so, but I've paid more for a lot less. We started of with two Brambles and then slowly worked our way through the menu. The Bramble cocktail is gin, lemon juice and Creme du Mure served over crushed ice with a slice of lemon and a hint of blackberries. It was lovely! We managed to get a nice seat in the corner by the window and spent the night listening to the DJ, sipping cocktails and talking nonsense. A fabulous way to spend a Friday evening."

"I like holyrood 9a. we have already tried one thing and so happy that we are here for our monthly work Burger-a-thon! the decor is warm, welcoming and comfortable with a underlying Scottish feeling brain heads, leather seats, wood cladding, large fireplaces the specialization on burger bark, huhn, vegetarian and alternative (haggis/pork/venison) and have beautiful sounding appetizers like prosciutto and pear salad and dessert like doughnuts! I hate it if you have to order and pay chips seperately. give me a price please all served wood...read more"

"This place offers a serious feed for a very reasonable price, especially in consideration of the situation. the personal was great and I couldn't even touch the second half of my packaging because of the generous portions. scran does not apply “brunch” because they eat it between breakfast and lunch. it combines both meal times in one! also, treat yourself a coffee I was not able to find a more beautiful in an edinburgh caffe!"
