"This was recommended to us by fellow travellers and we booked for the Sunday evening as so many places are closed that evening. We were warned that they would close at 10pm not a problem for us as, like most Brits, we eat at 8pm and leave as the Spanish are arriving but I wonder if this is why there were so few people and, even though we took the table furthest within the place, we were cold. We were offered two menus: one a really good choice of raciones and pinxos and the other the main menu . There were only two choices each for starter and main so possibly not a good bet for picky eaters. It is good value at under 30 euros for 3 courses including bread, wine and water and (unusually) coffee. We were also given a freebie pinxo which I loved truly excellent anchovies on toast. Husband and I chose different courses for starters and mains so I will relate what we had. Asparagus in vinaigrette with salad pleased him while my black rice with calamares and prawns was delicious the rice had definitely been cooked in fish stock which underlay the dish beautifully. For mains we chose hake on onion sauce and confit of duck. Both were really delicious. We were both so full that we shared a portion of cheese all wih individual flavours and all served at their peak of ripeness I am something of a bore when it comes to how cheese is served and this is exemplary. The general feel of the cooking here is more modern than that we have had in other places in Zarautz. As with other restaurants there is no English menu but there is a French one so if you are more confident in that language it is a good choice. Highly recommended."
