"Down an alleyway off the Piazza Anfiteatro (right where Rick always says to look), we stumbled on this absolute gem of a restaurant. Mostly outdoor seating, Mamma is in the kitchen, and everything that comes out of it is delicious. We started with the fried zucchini and its flowers, the lightest tempura treatment lending crunch to every bite. The seasonal porcini mushrooms were presented the same way. Pastas all looked good but we went right for the meat: a duck breast perfectly pink inside with a pile of gently caramelized onions that brought out the sweetness; and a fabulous steak, tender and juicy rare, topped with a generous portion of shredded truffles, coarse salt, and some mystery ingredient that took it to another level. We chose a local wine by Lippo that was great with everything as well as being quite inexpensive. If you’re in Lucca, don’t miss this place—BEST meal of our trip!"

"The salads were the best we had during our entire trip to Italy. Lovely setting and delightful staff. The Spritz was yummy. The restroom was clean. The experience was improved by the performance of a guitarist in the Square during our visit. Highly recommend."

"Best pizzeria in Lucca. We spent a month in Lucca and we were lucky enough to go here in our first couple of days, so we returned at least twice a week. The food is great (not just the pizza) and the staff is awesome especially Roberto. We’re looking forward to our return next year."
