"On our 6 week tour of Spain, we sampled lots of different restaurants. We discovered La Manduca by recommendation, eating here our first night in Benicàssim. Everything was good, service and food all lived up to expectations, including an English speaking waiter. So a few days later we ate here again. Same waiter, all good until the food came out.. my partner was served the wrong dish, having ordered chicken rice with vegetables. She struggled through the greasy pile of rice that was presented, with NO vegetables and only a few scrawny pieces of chicken, without complaining. When half way through our meal the waiter asked how our food was, we told him of the issue and he walked off, doing nothing to correct their mistake. When asked for the bill, I questioned issue over the dish and he confirmed that the kitchen had made a mistake.. we accepted this and requested that the cost of the one wrong dish be removed. All of a sudden the waiter could not speak English?!? By the power of Google Translate I requested that the cost of the dish be removed.. he went bright red and walked off, returning with a revised bill, with the wrongly served dish taken off.. that was all ok until my partner went to the washroom and witnessed in the middle of the restaurant, in public the manager screaming at the poor waiter, then turning his rage on the chef, eventually berating a poor innocent waitress who was not even involved.. The staff are lovely, the food is good, when the correct dishes are served, but... the appalling attitude of the management does not deserve the custom... there are plenty of better restaurants in Benicàssim!!"

"We had dinner last night on the terrace and very pleasant experience. as we went out a little late for dinner, instead of asking to share, that they had different options, we asked for a burger and a toast of anchovies, and we both were very pleased with the food. dessert a rich brownie, of the few that I could ensure I ate homemade in a restaurant. the kitchen very well, economic price, and very friendly and professional staff. of all the options in the area seemed a great choice and would repeat without hesitation"
